McLaren delivers a one-two at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but at what cost?
If you turned on the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday midway through the race and thought it was 2021 for a moment, you were likely not alone. As the laps ticked down at the Hungaroring Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were locked in a tight battle for position on the track, harkening back to one of the sport’s more memorable seasons.
But this is not 2021. It is 2024, and the story has changed.

Jake Paul boxed MMA fighter Mike Perry on Saturday night and absolutely dominated the match. Paul knocked out Perry in the sixth round with a barrage of punches that eventually landed Perry on the canvas.
Perry tried to continue fighting, but the referee called the fight after Perry stumbled while trying to gather himself. Clearly, Paul had done enough damage to end Perry’s night.
It’s an impressive win for Paul, who continues to dominate almost every opponent he fights.

True, he had just put his MCL38 on pole position, and with teammate Oscar Piastri qualifying second McLaren managed to lock out the front row for the first time since the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix, when it was Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton doing the driving.
