Newell is Georgia’s third-highest recruit of all time behind now NBA players Anthony Edwards and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
When it comes to the Georgia Bulldogs, almost everyone’s minds instantly travel to the 8-2 football team vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff with quite a number of NFL hopefuls on the roster.
That has been the case in each of the last four seasons, as the Bulldogs basketball team has been inconsistent, hovering around .500 every year, while constantly struggling in SEC play.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who plays as quickly as anyone, provided a solution to the LPGA’s biggest issue: slow play.
Slow play has been a pertinent topic of discussion on the LPGA this season. And the biggest stars in the game have had enough.
Two days after winning her seventh event of the season at The ANNIKA, Nelly Korda fielded a question about the glacial pace of play that has plagued the LPGA for years.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are just a few weeks removed from winning the World Series, and one year removed from an epic 2023-24 offseason. After three consecutive postseason disappointments, the Dodgers last winter went on a spending spree.
Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Teoscar Hernandez, Tyler Glasnow and Will Smith all inked high dollar value contracts, leading to extraordinary expectations for the 2024 season. And it paid off. All were instrumental in a postseason run that lived up to the hype.

It’s hard to imagine a worse person to be compared to in American culture these days than President Joe Biden, specifically in the context of cognitive ability. This is a man who has been unable to find his way off of a stage on multiple occasions, fallen down the steps of Air Force One, and most recently had a very sad battle with sand during a leisurely stroll on a beach.
It’s been obvious for well over a year now that President Biden, just like every other 81-year-old does, has lost a step, or four, both mentally and physically.

The 2023 RBC Canadian Open was a pivotal point for Ben Griffin, the former North Carolina Tar Heel who is currently the 70th-ranked player in the world. He decided to skip that week and practice at home instead, having missed five of his last six cuts.

It’s time for the Jets to get rid of their biggest problem.
The Jets finally made a smart move on Tuesday by firing general manager Joe Douglas. An architect of the team’s current demise, Douglas was willing to scapegoat coaches, players, everyone in his orbit in an effort to cover up his own colossal mistakes in draft and free agency.
New York is almost ready to usher in a new rebuilding era, but first they have to face their final boss and send Aaron Rodgers packing as well.
Philadelphia and Milwaukee were both expected to challenge Boston, but instead of dominating an underwhelming conference, they’re bringing up the rear.

Juan Soto is not returning to the New York Yankees.
That’s what my fellow Yanks fans need to start telling themselves as the Soto Sweepstakes continues with the star outfielder making his rounds while getting wined and dined by every baseball team that could possibly afford the 26-year-old and his expected massive contract.
Of course, the Yankees will be contenders for Soto and will pay lip service to not only him, but perhaps even more importantly, a frustrated Yankees fan base. That’s what being worth $7.8 billion as a franchise allows one to do.

The 76ers terrible season keeps getting worse with the latest report about Joel Embiid.
The Philadelphia 76ers were supposed to be a championship contender after signing Paul George to a four-year max contract in free agency. George joined 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid and rising star Tyrese Maxey for a tailor-made ‘big three’ pairing that felt destined to be a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference.
One month into the season, the 76ers are the worst team in the NBA.

Our insiders answer one big question surrounding the league’s top contenders, including what’s at stake for high-profile teams.
It’s unusual for an NFL general manager to be fired in-season, but it’s also hard for a GM to have six losing seasons with no playoff appearances and keep his job. Meet former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas, who just addressed both scenarios.
The Jets on Tuesday fired Douglas, an NFL source confirmed to OutKick.
SNYtv in New York was first to report the move.
The club has named former Cleveland Browns GM Phil Savage as the interim general manager, per a source.
And club owner Woody Johnson making these moves is not exactly a surprise.

Necas has been on fire and anyone in the NHL could have had him.
We’re almost 20 games into the NHL regular season and nobody has been a bigger surprise than Martin Necas of the Carolina Hurricanes. The 25-year-old center is on a heater, with 11 goals and 19 assists in 17 games, ranking third in the league in points scored, and he’s got 21 points in his last 10 for good measure.
A Necas breakout season isn’t that surprising in isolation. He’s routinely shown flashes that he could become a top flight forward.

The Charlotte 49ers fired head football coach Biff Poggi after the team fell to 3-7 following a 59-24 loss to South Florida over the weekend. The report of his firing came on Monday, yet on Tuesday, Poggi made his way to Charlotte’s practice.
While some may have assumed Charlotte players weren’t on great terms with Poggi given their record and the fact that the team is riding a four-game losing streak, that doesn’t appear to be the case at all.
As Poggi made his way onto the field on Tuesday, the entire team ran over to their now-former head coach to show him some love.

Taking after Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson is sick and tired of the slow pace of play on the LPGA.
Following her runner-up finish to Nelly Korda at last week’s ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge, Charley Hull sounded off on the biggest issue plaguing the LPGA: slow play.
The Englishwoman provided a “ruthless” solution, saying that a player should lose their card after three violations. Lexi Thompson echoed that sentiment despite categorizing it as “aggressive.

Alex Ovechkin’s Pursuit Of Gretzky’s Goal Record May Have Hit A Speed Bump With Apparent Knee Injury
This NHL season started with it looking like Alex Ovechkin could maybe, possibly catch Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record, but a lot of folks (*raises hand*) thought it would happen, but not until the 2025-26 season.
However, the Great 8 has hit the ground running and is among the league leaders in goals and even took the overall lead with a stellar two-goal performance on Monday night against the Utah Hockey Team.

Chicago Bulls forward Patrick Williams is the king of the missed dunk.
The Chicago Bulls drafted Patrick Williams with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft because of his potential, not his polish. Williams came off the bench all year in his one-and-done season at Florida State while putting up pedestrian numbers, but he had all the physical tools teams look for out of a modern wing.

Maybe this is from the better- to-ask-forgiveness-than-permission department, but the players who have been doing the Trump Dance as part of their big-play celebrations are in the clear with the NFL.
The league, through a spokesperson, has confirmed that it has “no issue” with players who do the dance that mimics the moves of President-elect Donald Trump.
“There’s no issue with celebratory dances such as what took place Sunday or the previous week with the 49ers on November 10,” NFL Chief Spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail.

Who is our bet to hist the Lombardi?
With 11 games in the books on the NFL regular season it’s fair to start looking ahead to the playoffs and beyond. It goes without saying that anything could happen in the postseason, but looking at the trend of the league we feel fairly comfortable separating the contenders from pretenders.
At this point nobody in the NFL is eliminated from the playoffs, at least not technically. Obviously the Jaguars or Cowboys aren’t winning the Super Bowl, but until their season is over they still need to be ranked.
PGA Tour player Sam Burns appears to be a very happy man that Donald Trump is heading back to the Oval Office for another four years.
Burns, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, shared a photo on Instagram of him posing with a good-sized buck while wearing a camo ‘Make America Great Again’ hat. It’s unclear when Burns shot the buck, but deer hunting season is currently open in Louisiana if he took down the deer in his home state in recent days.

Ichiro Suzuki leads a long list of Hall of Fame hopefuls
On Monday, the ballot for the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame voting was released. (We already covered the Classic Era ballot–formerly referred to as the Veterans Committee ballot–here.) There’s one obvious choice and a few others who have a shot at getting voted in this year, plus a handful of interesting first-year candidates. I’ve broken the ballot into tiers.
