Stars of the green baize turned out in snooker’s home city for a memorial service to former player and commentator John Virgo.
Virgo, who died aged 79 in February, reached the World Snooker Championship semi-finals at the city’s Crucible in 1979 and was a professional for 18 years before picking up the microphone for the BBC in 1994.

For veteran driver Marcus Ericsson, the season has gotten off to a solid start. Ericsson finished sixth in the season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and picked up his first IndyCar pole in Arlington before finishing fourth at that race.

The 2026 NFL Draft class may not be loaded with premier talent at the top of the draft, but teams in need of pass rushers will find plenty of depth on the board next week. Five edge rushers are currently ranked in the top 32 spots on the Mock Draft Database consensus board, and several others could easily find their way into the first round mix.

What must happen in the 2026 NFL draft in order for the Indianapolis Colts to “ace” their selections and address their key needs?
ESPN’s Ben Solak recently answered that question for the Colts and the other 31 NFL teams.
Without a first-round pick, and the Colts in a must-win situation this season, Solak mentions that GM Chris Ballard has to be “highly precise.” The three position groups in particular that should take priority for the Colts, according to Solak, are edge rusher, linebacker, and safety.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger has been killed in a car accident at the age of 48.
The Austrian Football Association and FC Red Bull Salzburg, one of his former clubs, confirmed the news.
“We mourn our former goalkeeper Alexander Manninger, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident,” Salzburg said.
Manninger made 64 appearances for Arsenal between 1997 and 2002, often serving as back-up to No 1 goalkeeper David Seaman.

Amid reports of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) potentially on the verge of pulling all funding of LIV Golf – which would virtually signal the end of the circuit – LIV CEO Scott O’Neill sent a company-wide email on Wednesday explaining that the season would go on “full throttle.”
The email, which was obtained by OutKick, specifically addressed the media being “filled with speculation” while stating that the 2026 season will go on “exactly as planned.” It did not directly mention anything about the PIF or funding.

Nobody wants to be a fan of a team that walks away from the NFL Draft with a bust. The NFL is dictated by teams that consistently draft successfully, both by finding Pro Bowl talent in the first round, then adding valuable starters or contributors throughout the rest of the rounds.

The strongest position group in the 2026 NFL Draft is at wide receiver. Even with that, there are legitimate question marks and concerns surrounding every wideout in the draft, especially the consensus top-ranking ones.

ESPN NFL draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. released his final mock for the 2026 NFL draft. As is an annual tradition for Kiper, this one extends to the second round.
In the first two rounds of the upcoming draft, the Bills are not slated to make much noise. In that area of the draft, Buffalo enters with just one selection at No. 26 overall in Round 1 and that’s the only pick Kiper makes for the Bills. No trades.
With that selection, Auburn edge defender Keldric Faulk heads to Buffalo.
In 12 games played last season, Faulk had two sacks and five tackles for loss.

Second row Danny Eite has signed a new deal with Gloucester to stay with the club beyond the end of the 2025-26 season.
The 22-year-old has made 17 appearances for the club since his debut in 2022, having come through their academy.
Eite has also represented England at under-18 and under-20 level but injury has limited him to just five games this season for his club.
“He’s had limited minutes due to a couple of injuries and competition in that second row, but I’m confident he’s got a big future here,” head coach George Skivington told the club website.

An Olympic bid by the Rhine-Ruhr region is backed by a majority of 54% in the 17 cities and towns earmarked to host events, according to a latest survey which comes amid a referendum until Sunday.
The Forsa insitute said on Thursday that its survey, commissioned by 39 papers in the state of North Rhine-Wwestphalia, saw 38% oppose future Games while 8% did not answer.
