Midfielder Joao Neves headed them into a sixth-minute lead, but Roberto Martinez’s side failed to convert their dominance of possession into attempts on goal.
And they were punished in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time when Newcastle striker Yoane Wissa was left unmarked to meet Arthur Masuaku’s cross from six yards to head home DR Congo’s first World Cup goal.

The Cleveland Browns have a good starting pair at corner with Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell, but the depth after that is questionable. Add that Ward only has one more year after this year on his deal, and it would make sense that the Browns could look to add a corner early in the 2027 NFL draft. Even if Ward signs an extension, the team will need to start thinking about life after Ward.
A lot can change during the college season, but looking at this cornerback class in the summer, there is one guy at the top who looks like a superstar: Notre Dame’s Leonard Moore.

It’s another must-win game for the Bulldogs on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET against Oklahoma.
Georgia (53-14) needs to beat the Sooners twice to reach the CWS finals. Oklahoma (40-22) can advance by winning Wednesday.
“It’s going to be fun,” third baseman Tre Phelps said after a 2-0 win Tuesday night against Texas. “We won three games in a row a plethora of times this year. The thing is to go one inning at a time, one game at a time and to have as much fun as possible.

It looks like a sponsorship patch is coming to the Texas Longhorns football jerseys. On Tuesday, we got a glimpse of the alteration UT is making to the football uniforms, moving the SEC patch from under the shoulder to the middle. The move clearly seems like a precursor to a partner logo.
There has been a rule change in college football allowing teams to add a sponsorship logo to their jerseys. The rule goes into effect on Aug. 1, just in time for the 2026 season. Division I programs can place commercial advertising patches on player uniforms.

CLEMSON — Clemson women’s basketball coach Shawn Poppie announced that the NCAA denied star guard Mia Moore‘s waiver for a sixth year of eligibility.
“Mia, unfortunately, got denied this week,” Poppie said June 17 at a media availability. “We waited however many days to hear that news.”
Poppie said Clemson is in the process of putting an appeal together.
Moore’s case, which was submitted in March, is based on her redshirt freshman season in 2022-23 at Mississippi State.
