Every year, it feels like a handful of teams don’t belong in the NFL Playoffs, and only a select few can win it all. This year is no different. There are high-flying offenses, quarterbacks who always seem to find a way, and a few teams that are happy to be here.
Today, we’ll separate the pretenders from the contenders by putting each team into a tier to determine who has the best chance at hoisting a Lombardi trophy a month from now.

“This is bigger than football,” Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay said this week, speaking on a topic that didn’t have anything to do with his team’s Monday Night playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Wildfires in Southern California that have caused multiple deaths, the loss of a so-far incalculable number of homes and other property, the evacuations of thousands, and fear throughout the region is what McVay was addressing, and his point was made.

The rough week continues to get rougher for UCLA Bruins men’s basketball coach Mick Cronin. 
On Tuesday, his squad suffered a 94-75 rout at home courtesy of the Michigan Wolverines. After the embarrassing loss, he ripped his players, calling them “delusional” and saying he was the toughest guy on the team.
“So what the truth of it has been, it’s really hard to coach people that are delusional,” Cronin said. “The hungry dog gets the bone. We got guys that think they’re way better than they are. They’re nice kids.

The schedule for Wild Card Weekend in the NFL is set.
It took the final game of the regular season between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings to determine who is the NFC North Champion, and the NFC’s No. 1 seed. The Lions pulled away in the second half to pull out the win, and earn the NFC’s only bye week.
That means the Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs will be watching the games along with the rest of us this weekend.

The NFL Playoffs begin today, with 14 teams left standing on the road to Super Bowl LIX. Wild Card Weekend gets underway with the Houston Texans facing the Los Angeles Chargers, in a game that kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Eastern from NRG Stadium in Houston.

Texas QB Quinn Ewers sounded right out of an episode of “Friday Night Lights” after the Longhorns lost to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes handled the Longhorns 28-14 to advance to the national title game, and it’s almost certainly the final time Texas fans will see Ewers in the burnt orange.
The NFL is waiting on the horizon. He’ll ride off into the sunset being remembered as the man who revitalized Texas’ program, but twice fell short of winning a national title.

Jim Harbaugh is the ultimate football guy. Harbaugh has had an almost cartoonish appreciation for the sport since entering the coaching ranks, and everywhere he goes, success follows. After taking Stanford to a BCS game, the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl, and winning the national championship at Michigan, the coach continued to work his magic with the Los Angeles Chargers in his first season.

DALLAS, TX – Every fan that was planning on attending the Cotton Bowl on Friday night was not detoured by the weather that hit the DFW area over the last two days. A capacity crowd that looked more like a 50-50 split in the stands was once again part of a monumental moment in this sport, and the fans were the winners, along with the Ohio State Buckeyes. 
The ever-changing emotions that flooded the stands of AT&T Stadium felt like two different storms that passed through the building on a single night.

If it’s true that former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck will receive $4 million in NIL money to play for the University of Miami in 2025, numbers like that will get more and more high-end college football players to do what the NFL has encouraged them to do (possibly as a favor to its free farm system) for years.

Robert Quinn spent more than a decade in the NFL, compiling 102 sacks, none of which are likely to be as memorable as his Friday morning mugshot. Quinn, 34, was arrested in North Charleston, South Carolina after crashing his Ford F150 and attempting to flee the scene. 
Quinn, who was selected 14th overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2011, reportedly wrecked his truck near a car dealership around 2 am Friday. Upon doing so, Quinn allegedly called for a ride away, then stuck around the crash scene in another person’s vehicle.
