The Ohio State social media pages do a great job of recognizing important days, and it just so happens that Sunday was Father’s Day, one of those moments. Mother’s Day is big, of course, but dads sometimes get the short end of the stick when it comes to these sorts of things, so good on all of those who took time out to wish the Buckeye Nation’s dads a good one.

In November 2016, Conor McGregor held the UFC featherweight championship. He had just avenged his loss to Nate Diaz when the Irishman fought then-champion Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title in the UFC 205 main event.
McGregor put on a clinic, finishing Alvarez in the second round. Look back at “Notorious” joining the multi-division UFC champion.

McGregor returns to the octagon on July 11 after five years on the sidelines. He faces former featherweight champion and BMF titleholder Max Holloway in a rematch. The two. headline UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Wyndham Clark is a U.S. Open Champion. Again.
Clark went wire-to-wire at Shinnecock Hills for his second major championship victory. It is difficult enough to win a U.S. Open a single time, but that Wyndham has now done so twice (2023 in Los Angeles) is insanely impressive.

Cape Verde’s gripping debut World Cup campaign continued as they held two-time champions Uruguay to a thrilling draw in Miami.
Having delighted fans with their shock 0-0 draw with Spain in their opener, Cape Verde took a dream lead against Uruguay through Kevin Pina’s long-range free-kick which went through the middle of the wall in the 21st minute.
Going ahead changed the game’s structure as Cape Verde became more attacking and left themselves exposed at the back.

Kerry Coombs not only spent a lot of time coaching at Ohio State, but he diligently recruited both the Detroit and his native Cincinnati areas. The last major thing that former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore did was hire Coombs as the special teams coordinator, and he was one of a handful of coaches retained by new head coach Kyle Whittingham (Lou Esposito was retained, but ended up departing for the NFL).
And now, Michigan is reaping the benefits, it seems.

Austria coach Ralf Rangnick recognized that his side are the underdogs against title holders Argentina and that they’re playing “against all odds” when they face the South Americans in the World Cup.
But the Austrians hope to use their collective strength to stop the exceptional Lionel Messi in the second group stage match on Monday.
“And of course, with Messi, they probably have the best player who has ever lived, and we have to show that we’re one of the best teams at this World Cup,” Rangnick said in a news conference on Sunday.

Cape Verde’s World Cup campaign will go down in history – and they are now on the cusp of going a step further.
They had already produced one of the biggest shocks of all time as they drew with Spain in their tournament debut, producing the game with the biggest gap in rankings where the higher-ranked side didn’t win.
The Blue Sharks showed their class again on the game’s biggest stage on Sunday by holding two-time winners Uruguay, and are now in serious contention for a place in the knockouts.

PWHL Detroit added another local player to the roster for the inaugural season in 2026-2027.
Plymouth’s Mellissa Channell-Watkins (Vancouver Goldeneyes) was one of three defensemen signed to the team on Sunday along with Stephanie Markowski (Ottawa Charge) and Mia Biotti (Boston Fleet).

Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe has been a much talked about topic since it was first reported. The Indiana Fever superstar debuted it on Thursday in the WNBA regular-season matchup against the Atlanta Dream. News about a special holiday release recently emerged and got fans buzzing.

Burns missed a short putt on 17 and a missed a makeable look on 18, finishing his US Open one stroke behind eventual winner Wyndham Clark.
Still, it was an impressive showing from Burns, who had the worst of the conditions through the first two days, and still made a late charge. He faced the wind on Thursday morning, and the firmest greens on Friday afternoon, and still hung in contention.
Speaking after his final round, Burns shared his honest thoughts on the setup at Shinnecock.

The San Francisco Giants began the top of the ninth inning in Miami facing a 2-1 deficit, and Devers was leading off. He got on base with a walk. That’s exactly what the Giants needed.
What happened next was a lot less ideal.
The Giants sent Jonah Cox, the rookie outfielder, toward first base to pinch-run for Devers.

Wyndham Clark won the US Open at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday, despite receiving all sorts of abuse from the fans all day long.
Clark won the US Open by a single stroke ahead of second-placed Sam Burns.
He will obviously be absolutely delighted with his victory, but playing on Sunday at Shinnecock Hills couldn’t have been much fun for him.
Wyndham Clark has behaved really poorly on numerous occasions in the past and, as a result, the fans at Shinnecock Hills were certainly not on his side.

This year’s class in the Lone Star State features 52 players from inside the borders earning blue-chip status as four- and five-star recruits. That was more than any other state in the country, including Florida, California and Georgia. The 2023 champion successfully avoided conceding the biggest 54-hole lead in the event’s history after starting the day with a six-stroke advantage.
After dominating over three days the 32-year-old’s aura quickly disappeared but, while he may not have been the most popular winner, having to endure catcalls from the gallery, his play over the week deserved it.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler got part of what he needed — a crack in Wyndham Clark’s game that might have kickstarted his own run at completing the career Grand Slam.
But Scheffler never did the other part — namely, applying any pressure of his own on the player who left the door open Sunday at the U.S. Open before sneaking away with the win.
While Clark hung on to beat Sam Burns by one shot and capture his second title in four years in the toughest test in golf, Scheffler will wait another year for a chance to fill that last hole on his Grand Slam resume.
