On May 21, Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story had surgery to repair a sports hernia in Philadelphia. A month later, he’s on the mend — and in some ways, making strides more quickly than the team expected.
After a short period of resting at home in Texas after the operation, Story has been rehabbing in Boston both when the team is home and on the road. Before games, he has engaged in running drills on the field and even taken swings as he ramps up baseball activity.
“He’s actually progressing pretty nicely,” interim manager Chad Tracy said Thursday.

2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has been suspended for four years for refusing a drug test.
Vondrousova, the former world No 6, refused an out-of-competition test by a doping control official on 3 December 2025 and was subsequently charged by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), which oversees tennis’ anti-doping policy, for failing to provide a sample in April this year.
The ITIA announced on Monday that an independent tribunal ruled Vondrousova’s evidence during the hearing offered “no compelling justification” for her refusal of the test.

The first MotoGP test with 850cc bikes and Pirelli tyres for contracted race riders concluded this Monday at the Brno Autodrom, with Aprilia topping the times and Marc Marquez suffering a small crash.
Next season, Italian manufacturer Pirelli will become the sole tyre supplier for MotoGP, ushering in a new era in the world championship in which, in addition to the new compounds, the premier class will feature an 850cc engine instead of the current 1,000cc, as well as a reduction in aerodynamics and complete ban on ride-height systems.

The aftermath of New York Knicks’ Finals win, combined with the upcoming NBA draft and free agency, has become a discourse on the overall nature of roster building.
Will more teams take the Knicks’ path? Are draft picks still valuable?
It’s an interesting question and one that has infiltrated conversations with a number of front office executives. From an outsider’s perspective, the copycat nature of sports (in which the NBA is not exempt) dictates at least the pursuit of some shared elements of success, especially considering how the Knicks assembled their core.
The NCAA Division I Cabinet is set to meet Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Chief on the to-do list for the June meeting is an expected vote on the age-based eligibility model.
The cabinet modified the age-based model earlier this month to start an athlete’s eligibility clock upon initial full-time enrollment in college or at the beginning of the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever occurs earlier. This adjustment would apply to all sports if the model is adopted this week.
