The UCLA Bruins did a remarkable thing by defeating Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks in dominant fashion to win the women’s college basketball national title.
On Sunday afternoon, the Bruins won their first title in program history by a score of 79-51. The starting five for UCLA scored all but nine points in the victory, with Gabriela Jaquez doing the most damage with 21 points. All the scorers were seniors, a fitting end for a senior class that led their school to the mountain top for the first time.

I know it seems a little early for Mt. Rushmore season, but the hockey team I’ve grown accustomed to watching play well into May and June the last few seasons has just been eliminated from postseason consideration, and I don’t care much for the NBA, so here we are.
Since the dog days of summer have begun early for me, I thought we could kick Mt. Rushmore season off with a bang.

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka spoke about patience and belief after his team beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in a last-over finish in their IPL match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.

Ichiro was quite the pitcher growing up, too, although he wasn’t a two-way player in MLB the way Ohtani is for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Those two names will always be linked in their heritage, and in many ways for their impact on MLB.

The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a come from behind victory in their series finale against the Washington Nationals on Sunday, 7-6.
A rain delay postponed the game by a couple of hours, pushing first pitch to 12:45 p.m. PT from the original time of 10:05 a.m. PT.
Roki Sasaki got the nod on the mound for his second start of the season Sunday, but struggled after a strong showing in the first two innings. He ended the game with five strikeouts through five innings, but allowed six runs on five hits and three walks.

PHOENIX (AP) — South Carolina’s quest to win a fourth national title ended in ugly fashion for a second straight season when the Gamecocks lost to UCLA 79-51 in the NCAA women’s basketball title game on Sunday.
Even so, the monster program that Dawn Staley has built over the past 15 years doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere.
South Carolina should be one of the top contenders to make a seventh straight Final Four in 2027 and will have plenty of motivation after Sunday’s miserable performance.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 97 runs in the last five overs to finish at 250 for 3, the highest total of this season, against Chennai Super Kings in their IPL match on Sunday, turning the game with a strong finish in the first innings.
The late surge came from Tim David, captain Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal, who built on the base set earlier in the innings. Padikkal scored 50 off 29 balls, David made 70 off 25 balls, while Patidar remained unbeaten on 48 off 19 balls.

The Phillies were going for a sweep over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday. But two home runs by Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak and a second straight day of quiet offense from the Phillies allowed the Rockies to avert the sweep as they beat the Phillies 4-1.

After a dull first half of the contest, Dubois dropped Harper with a classy jab and left hook in the sixth round.
Doncaster’s Harper, who suffered a nasty cut after a clash of heads in the eighth, showed great spirit to continue throwing until the final round.
The judges scored the fight 98-91, 97-92 and 98-91 to Dubois, who adds Harper’s WBO belt to her WBC title.

This series has been pretty grim. The pitching hasn’t been awful, one significant meltdown notwithstanding, but the offence largely hasn’t shown up against a pretty bad pitching staff, and now the Jays find themselves on a 1-5 skid and below .500 for the season.

The San Francisco 49ers should be on the lookout for offensive line help in the 2026 NFL draft. One prospect they met with in person, Wyoming’s Caden Barnett, could be a target for them if they trade into the later rounds.
Barnett met with the 49ers at Wyoming’s Pro Day according to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Melo. There are a handful of reasons for optimism about Barnett as a late-round prospect, but perhaps none more than his nickname — Vanilla Gorilla.
Barnett was a three-year starter for the Cowboys and primarily played offensive tackle.
