According to a report from Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich had prized center-back prospect Luka Vušković in its grasp, but let him slip away.
Why?
Well, a Bayern Munich scout felt the young Croatian was too arrogant on the ball.

The first season for Tijjani Reijnders at Manchester City has seen flashes of quality from the Dutch midfielder, interspersed with moments of frustration. He has endured a steep learning curve playing under Pep Guardiola, as many of Manchester City’s new signings in the past and in more recent times have gone through.
Last year, the Associated Press did not inform the panel of 50 voters that the full award ballots would be released. And then the full ballots were released.
This year, the AP informed the voters that “[w]e will post your ballots after the awards show.” And the ballots have not been released.
Moreover, the AP didn’t provide for the 2025 awards a full breakdown of all votes received for each person in each category. Instead, only the top five were listed, along with the names of others not in the top five who received first-place votes.

Lakers star Luka Doncic limped off the court late in the second quarter and was ruled out for the rest of Thursday’s 119-115 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Lakers initially described Doncic’s injury as left leg soreness, but head coach JJ Redick said that Doncic would undergo an MRI on his left hamstring on Friday. “Yeah, he felt some soreness in his hamstring, so he didn’t feel like it was good enough to go back in,” Redick said. “Neither did medical, so we held him out. And he’ll get some imaging.

Transfer expert for The Athletic David Ornstein has revealed the fee that Liverpool have paid to sign Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.
The move at the time caused a bit of a stir because this guy is a highly rated young player, and Chelsea fans knew very well that they were losing a gem. But for whatever reason, they couldn’t keep hold of him and he made the decision to go and play for Liverpool instead and try his luck there, rather than stay at Chelsea where he came through the academy.

SANTA CLARA, California — Drake Maye put himself in conversation with some of the best players in the league this season.
The New England Patriots quarterback showed a lot of potential in his rookie season despite the team finishing with only four wins. But this season, he has gone above and beyond and has put himself in the MVP conversation. It came down to him or Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
In the end, the award went to Stafford.
Lakers urged to reunite LeBron James with $20 million former ‘fan favorite’ guard via buyout originally appeared on The Sporting News.

The top buyout targets won’t move the needle for many Los Angeles Lakers fans.
However, some assets could play an underrated role in the franchise’s future success. In Silver Screen and Roll’s Edwin Garcia’s opinion, a ‘fan favorite’ guard who competed alongside LeBron James in Los Angeles for the 2018-19 season wouldn’t be a bad option.
After Matthew Stafford was named the first-team All-Pro quarterback and PFWA’s MVP, he appeared to be a virtual lock for the AP’s Most Valuable Player award. And on Thursday night, he was declared the winner of that coveted honor.
However, he beat out Drake Maye by the absolute slimmest margin. According to Rob Maadi of the Associated Press, Stafford received 366 points and 24 first-place votes. Maye was right behind him with 361 points and 23 first-place votes.
So of the 50 voters, 24 picked Stafford as their top selection and 23 picked Maye.

Shuffling their roster one last time, the Oklahoma City Thunder changed things up as they hope to become back-to-back NBA champions. They added Jared McCain in a buy-low deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. To make space on the standard roster, Ousmane Dieng was salary-dumped to the Charlotte Hornets.
The Thunder have sorely missed another ball-handler who can run the offense when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Ajay Mitchell aren’t on the floor. While McCain likely won’t be an immediate contributor, he could help with that in the long-term future.
DALLAS (AP) — Cooper Flagg was in the midst of an unprecedented run for an NBA teenager when the Dallas Mavericks firmly declared their rookie No. 1 pick the future face of the franchise.
That day was coming no matter what. It arrived with Dallas trading Anthony Davis, the 10-time All-Star who joined the Mavericks in a deal that cost them generational superstar Luka Doncic and sent their fans into a funk from which they’re still recovering.

In the world of NBA “insidering,” you are only as good as your last tweet. Right now, ESPN insider Shams Charania looks less like a breaking-news king and more like the boy who cried “Greek Freak.”
By Thursday afternoon, the internet had seen enough. Fans were fed up with the slow-drip buildup from Shams that Giannis Antetokounmpo was on the move, only for the whole thing to fizzle out into nothing. For months, we were force-fed a diet of “Shams Bombs” that turned out to be glorified clickbait.
