Donald Trump suggested that he could get a deal done between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sole funder of LIV Golf, in a matter of minutes if he were to win the 2024 Presidential Election. Well, Trump is headed back to the White House after defeating Kamala Harris, and Rory McIlroy believes that does nothing but help the chances of a deal getting done between the Tour and LIV Golf sooner rather than later.

Three DP World Tour pros had a lot on the line in their practice round before the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship, which did not involve money.
You often hear the stories of PGA Tour pros playing massive money games in practice rounds ahead of tournaments.
Thousands of dollars are on the line while bragging rights between friendly rivals are, too. Yet, pros place bets on the course not because they have a gambling problem.

Oklahoma State football dropped its sixth straight loss after taking a pounding from Arizona State this weekend, and coach Mike Gundy decided to toss a match on a powder keg by calling his critics “poor.”
Gundy reached a breaking point over the “negativity” piling on Oklahoma State’s season.
The coach’s tirade caught plenty of ears after Gundy called his critics poor.
“In most cases, the people who are negative and voicing their opinions are the same ones that can’t pay their own bills,” Gundy said during his press conference this week.

There was a scary moment in Tuesday’s game between the St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday in St. Louis after Blues forward Dylan Holloway was taken off the bench on a stretcher and transported to a nearby hospital after getting hit in the neck with a puck.
It happened late in the first period. Tampa’s Nick Paul attempted to take a shot but the puck appeared to be deflected by the stick blade of St. Louis’ Jordan Kyrou.
This inadvertently sent the puck right for Holloway’s neck and at a rate of speed too fast for him to prepare himself for.

The early part of this NHL season has not been kind to the Boston Bruins. A 6-6-1 record going into Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs isn’t horrendous, but considering how tight the Atlantic Division standings are, they need to be better.
So, the team needs a kick and the pants, and I think there’s a chance that the necessary kick might be coming from the upper lip of star forward David Pastnak.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series thanks to clutch hitting from Freddie Freeman, excellent relief pitching, and a dominant start from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But it wouldn’t be unrealistic to say that the New York Yankees lost it. In every sense of the word.
The Yankees made a number of defensive and mental mistakes, costing them runs in multiple games. Even the Dodgers advance scouting knew that New York struggled with making routine plays.

According to reports, kidnapping first-degree assault charges against South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball star forward Ashlyn Watkins have been dismissed.
However, there’s no word on when or if she’ll return to the team.
The Gamecocks are the No. 1 team in the country and reigning national champions, but their offseason was marred by the alleged on-campus incident involving Watkins.

Unbeaten Oregon is the No. 1 team in the first rankings released by the College Football Playoff selection committee on ESPN Tuesday night, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Miami and Texas.
After two months of regular season action, the first college football playoff rankings have been released, and we now have a look at what teams the committee thinks are the top-12 teams as of this moment.
As we enter the new 12-team format this season, there were a lot of questions on how the committee would vote on certain teams that have already endured at least two losses. It was pretty obvious that Oregon, Georgia, Miami and BYU were going to take makeup the top-4 spots, which will receive first round byes when the postseason begins.

The Pope has been a popular figure for New Orleans Saints fans after Pontifex inadvertently gave the team his blessing.
Posting on his X account (what a time), the Pope hailed “the #Saints” as “precious pearls” in the aftermath of the team firing head coach Dennis Allen.
With his Saints hashtag, the Pope sprouted a ‘fleur de lis,’ that symbol centered on the team’s logo.

The first College Football Playoff rankings are out with Oregon at No. 1.
This season marks the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
And after weeks of games, and speculation, we have our first official College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season.
Tuesday began with several undefeated teams in the AP Top 25 rankings, including Oregon (No. 1), Miami (No. 4), and a trio of upstarts in Indiana (No. 8), BYU (No. 9) and Army (No. 18).
The task of the College Football Playoff committee has never been easy, and ranking teams before the season ends won’t make it any better.
Ex-Big League catcher Jonathan Lucroy had a message for his fellow Americans, telling them to get out and vote and doing so in style.
Lucroy — a two-time All-Star who spent the bulk of his time in the MLB with the Milwaukee Brewers — took to X to tell some stories and tell others to head to the polls.
“I was once told by a team to kneel for the anthem. I told them no. Never ever would I do so. I told them I would retire before I ever did that,” Lucroy wrote. “Kneeling wasn’t the answer to the problem, it’s pissed half the country off and created even more division.

Gerrit Cole did his best to keep the New York Yankees in the World Series, turning in two excellent starts in Game 1 and Game 5. Well, outside of forgetting to cover first base in the pivotal fifth inning of Game 5.
The postseason performance reinforced the fact that Cole is one of the few true “aces” left in Major League Baseball. Able to turn lineups over three times, command his pitches, and work deep into games with elite stuff. For the Yankees, hoping to run it back for 2025 and finally win another championship, he’s as valuable as it gets.
