Marshon Lattimore, perhaps the best player available before the 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline, is on the move from the New Orleans Saints to the Washington Commanders.
The Commanders outbid a handful of teams for the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tuesday afternoon, and this speaks to where the team sees itself.
Because the Commanders outbid, among others, the Kansas City Chiefs for Lattimore’s services.
So one team with Super Bowl aspirations outbid another team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Think what that says about the Commanders.

A big deal ahead of the deadline.
Washington is officially in playoff push mode. Making one of the biggest deals of the NFL trade deadline, the Commanders reached an agreement with the Saints for four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
The Commanders are sending a 3rd round pick, a 4th round pick, and a 6th round pick. A relative steal for a player of Lattimoreโs caliber at a critical position.
Thereโs no question that 2024 has been a down year for the Saints cornerback.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2024, Perich had a bevy of offers, but elected to stay with his hometown team.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have enjoyed a strong start to their season, improving to 6-3 with a notable 25-17 win over the No. 24 Illinois Fighting Illini on the road on Saturday.
A good part of that success has been a stout defense that has allowed an opponent to score over 30 points just once this season, while seven of their nine games have been with opponents scoring under 20 points.

Rory McIlroy is back in the Middle East, where he will likely win his sixth Race to Dubai title on the DP World Tour.
After an agonizing 2024 campaign that featured a U.S. Open heartbreak, a near miss at the Irish Open at Royal County Down, and a playoff loss to Billy Horschel at the BMW PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy is all but assured to end the year with a big win.

The Minnesota Lynx superstar sounded off on the referee decisions that she believes cost her team a WNBA championship.
Itโs been just over two weeks since the conclusion of the WNBA Finals, a back-and-forth series between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx in which a couple of controversial late-game calls ultimately helped determine the final outcome.
The Liberty prevailed 67-62 in overtime after a foul was called on the the Lynxโs Alanna Smith with just a few seconds left in regulation and Minnesota up by two.

Only college basketball gives us future NBA stars vs. future desk jockeys, and the results are spectacular.
College basketball is funny because it allows a future NBA All-Star to go up against a future desk jockey on any given possession of a game. This contrast played out in the final minutes of Gonzagaโs blowout victory over Baylor, and it produced the most spectacular highlight of college basketballโs opening night.
Gonzaga obliterated Baylor, 101-63, in a matchup of two top-10 teams in the preseason polls.
DeAndre Hopkins hauled in his first touchdown catch as a Kansas City Chief during his new team’s overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. After scoring what was the Chiefs’ first touchdown of the game, Hopkins jumped up and began doing the well-known dance from the movie โRemember The Titansโ before a number of his teammates joined in on the fun.
Given the fact that Hopkins was a Tennessee Titan just two weeks ago before being dealt out of Nashville to Kansas City, most assumed that the wide receiver was taking a dig at his former team with the celebration.

What are the Dallas Cowboys doing? It’s fair to ask because this Jerry Jones team that once represented what all of America should aspire to โ excellence, quality, respect โ has lost all of that this NFL season.
That’s not hyperbole.
This is serious. And sad.
The news out of The Star, which is the Cowboys’ amazing practice facility, is that the Cowboys acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers prior to the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday. The Panthers announced the terms of the deal.
Kansas City Chiefs player James Winchester has officially taken a seat on the Donald Trump train.
It’s Election Day in America, and that means millions of votes are being cast to decide if Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will be the next President.
With time winding down, more and more people are making it clear where they stand. Joe Rogan endorsed Trump, Nick Bosa made his love for the former President and Republican leader clear and you can now add James Winchester to the list.

Fantasy football analyst and neuroscientist Renee Miller examines several Week 9 performances to determine what’s the real deal … and what’s merely a fluke.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have attempted to take a late lead over the Kansas City Chiefs with a two-point conversion on Monday night, but ultimately kicked the extra point before going into overtime and losing 30-24.ย
Hindsight is always 20/20, especially when talking about what would have been a risky two-point attempt, but the explanation Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles shared as to why he opted not to go for two was certainly a head-scratcher.
According to him, it wasn’t worth going for two because the field was wet. He actually said that.

The worst, funniest trade of the deadline.
The Cowboysโ season is in shambles, and their solution is to make of the weirdest, most-hilarious trades of the season. On Tuesday morning it was announced that the Carolina Panthers were trading WR Jonathan Mingo and a 7th round pick to Dallas in exchange for a 4th round pick in 2025.
Thereโs no use mincing words here: Mingo was a bust.
There has never been a player like Zion and that makes the blueprint to success all the more challenging.
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy, once again, proved he’s a content machine.
The Cowboys are currently suffering through a brutally disappointing 3-6 season. Gundy’s squad doesn’t have a single Big 12 win and has lost six straight.
That includes a fresh blowout loss to Arizona State this past weekend. The season has been nothing short of a disaster, but Gundy doesn’t want to hear much from the poor seats.
The Oklahoma State coach is known for being a quote machine.

The Lions added a pass rusher before the NFL trade deadline, acquiring Za’Darius Smith in a deal with the Browns, sources told ESPN.
The Cowboys will likely place quarterback Dak Prescott on injured reserve due to the hamstring injury he sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons, Jerry Jones said Tuesday.
We are now one week into the month of November, and I’d be lying to you if I said we had a clear front-runner for a national champion. One of the best parts of this new 12-team college football playoff is that we’re about to see which team can make a run towards a title, and there are certainly a number of teams worthy enough.ย
Honestly, look at this past weekend, which saw seven teams in the AP Top-25 lose, setting up another round of chaos for this Saturday. We thought Texas A&M had figured things out in the SEC, but as I predicted, South Carolina got the best of the Aggies.

Grading every deal at the NFL trade deadline as it happens.
The NFL trade deadline is normally an enormously hyped entry on the calendar that leads to nothing. However, in 2024 things are very different. Weโve never had a season where so many teams had such an array of issues, and thatโs created a perfect storm where anyone, and everyone who thinks they can compete for a Super Bowl is trying to patch their rosters.
This has been caused by two huge factors: Injuries, and changing trends around the league.
Dan Campbell told his Detroit Lions team during his postgame speech on Sunday they can beat anyone. And because of that, the team had to make Tuesday’s trade for pass rusher Za’Darius Smith.
The Lions, you see, have a goal this year.
They expect to win the Super Bowl.ย
They have the best record in the NFC and second best in the entire NFL so who’s going to say they can’t do it? But there was one problem with that goal:
The club lost Aidan Hutchinson to a fractured fibula and tibia injury weeks ago.
The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m.
