Rosters for the 2026 World Baseball Classic were announced on Thursday, including nine Dodgers playing in the tournament, spread across seven countries.
Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are the headliners, both playing for Japan as they did in 2023.

The NFL announced today that the 49ers and Rams will play in Melbourne, Australia, during the 2026 season, and 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey isn’t sure that’s such a good idea.
Talking to reporters at Super Bowl festivities in San Francisco, McCaffrey questioned how it’s going to work out for the 49ers to have to travel farther than any NFL team has ever traveled for a game.
“Australia’s pretty far,” McCaffrey said. “I’d love to see how the schedule would work. Transparently, that might be a little too far.
The federal pitch-rigging case against Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase exploded Thursday with shocking, new details.
Court filings allege the All-Star manipulated outcomes in at least 48 separate games over the last two seasons.
The new total reveals a scheme far more extensive than the handful of games cited when the initial indictment was unsealed last November.
Prosecutors now allege that Clase’s pattern of intentional balls and velocity manipulation was a consistent part of his routine from May 2023 through July 2025.

The San Diego Padres are reportedly moving closer to the franchise going up for sale with opening bids for the team expected to be submitted by the end of February, according to The Athletic.
One of the people presumably interested in submitting a bid is Golden State Warriors team owner Joe Lacob, The Athletic’s Dennis Lin and Mike Vorkunov report. While Lacob has looked into the possibility of buying the Padres, he has not committed to making a bid, at least publicly. However, he has previously pursued attempts to buy the Athletics, Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers.
SANTA CLARA, California — One key New England Patriots defender has been dealing with what seems to be a serious injury throughout the season, which has sidelined him at times.
Linebacker Harold Landry suffered a knee injury in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints and then again against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12.
“I got hit in the same type of fashion,” Landry told Patriots Wire. “It’s just been lingering on.
Kirk Cousins is ready for anything this offseason.
Cousins remains under contract to the Falcons, but the quarterback is expected to be released before March 13 because his reworked contract now calls for a $67.9 guarantee for the 2027 season to vest at that time. Cousins could sign a different contract to return to the Falcons after closing out the 2025 season as their starter, but he said on PFT Live that “my expectation is to not expect anything” when it comes to where he’ll be playing in the fall.

Reich became the perceived favorite for the position the moment New York head coach Aaron Glenn created a vacancy by parting ways with Tanner Engstrand.

Reich becomes the Jets’ 12th offensive play-caller over a 16-year span. That’s ludicrous.

Cedric Thornton has replaced Gregg Williams as defensive coordinator for Tennessee State football.
