If you took a break from March Madness coverage on Thursday and tuned into any of the PGA Tour action at the Valspar Championship, you may have noticed a trend on the leaderboard. It had nothing to do with scores, but instead the sheer number of Kevin’s teeing it up this week in Florida.
Kevin Streelman grabbed headlines as he took the lead on day one, but there were six other Kevins in the field – Kevin Roy, Kevin Aylwin, Kevin Daugherty, Kevin Tway, Kevin Yu, and Kevin Kisner.
The Yahoo Fantasy and MLB crews come together to reveal which rookies they’re most excited about ahead of the 2024 season.
Mercedes is looking for answers after the first two practices before the Australian Grand Prix
Mercedes came to Melbourne ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix hoping to narrow the gap to Red Bull and Ferrari in front of them.
As Saturday dawns Down Under, the team is still looking for answers.
While both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were in the top ten during Friday’s first practice session, some “experiments” on Hamilton’s W15 saw him struggle in the second practice session.
A few months ago, 21-year-old videographer Kevin Fitzgibbons thought his career was over when the NFL revoked his media credential for literally having fun. But now he’s getting the last laugh (and a much better paycheck!)
Last season, the college student was hired in a freelance capacity by the Miami Dolphins to capture video and social media content for the team. Some of his videos went viral – including many of Tyreek Hill, who would end up befriending him.
The Gamecocks are the favorites in the women’s NCAA tournament.
Michigan is paying defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale an incredibly rich deal.
Michigan named Martindale the team’s new DC after he left the Giants following this past NFL season, and if you want an NFL caliber assistant, he’s going to be paid big money. Not only is Martindale getting paid, but he’s getting paid like a head coach.
Austin Meek reported Martindale’s deal is for three years with a base salary of $2.3 million in 2024 and it increases to $2.5 million in 2025 and $2.7 million in 2026.
Bijan knows ball.
Did your bracket get busted on Thursday? Yeah, most everyone’s did. Between BYU falling to Duquense and Kentucky’s stunning loss to Oakland almost nobody is waking up on Friday morning with the whole thing intact.
Well, except for Bijan Robinson and a very few others.
BIJAN IS STILL PERFECT!

The Falcons running back is one of 0.
John Calipari’s seat at Kentucky has been relatively warm for a half-decade now, but after the Wildcats’ stunning loss to Oakland in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, his seat has burst into flames.
The majority of Big Blue fans have seen enough from Coach Cal at this point. Kentucky has won just one NCAA Tournament game in five seasons and hasn’t sniffed an SEC Tournament title since hosting the trophy in 2018 while averaging 10 losses a season over the last three campaigns.
John Calipari wasted no time before finding someone to blame after a stunning loss to Oakland.
The Kentucky Wildcats lost 80-76 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to the Grizzlies in what can only be described as an absolute stunner.
Once again, Kentucky disappointed in the postseason, and it feels like a lifetime ago when the Wildcats were contending every single season.
But don’t worry, UK fans, because Calipari knows who is responsible for Thursday night, and it’s not him.
A couple Miller Lights or tickets to some NCAA Tournament games?
That’s the choice some people might have to make because tickets to some Friday sessions are shockingly cheap. Thursday is in the books, and after a day of games under our belts, you’d think ticket prices would probably be pretty competitive Friday.
After all, it’s leading into the weekend, people can get off work and it’s easier to travel. Well, if you’re in Memphis and want to catch some games, it’ll come at the cost of a beer at a nice bar.

A hard crash in practice from Alex Albon put Williams in a difficult position
As the first practice session at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix wound down, Alex Albon found himself in a tricky spot.
The wall.
As Albon was coming out of the exit to Turn 6 and ran a little wide into Turn 7, which resulted in a massive crash that caused substantial damage to his FW46:

Samford was absolutely hosed by the refs in the closing moments of the team’s narrow loss to Kansas.
The Bulldogs cut the lead to just one point with 14 seconds remaining at 90-89, and it appeared Samford guard A.J. Staton-McCray had pulled off an incredibly clean block on Nicolas Timberlake.
Refs saw something different from the rest of the nation.
Staton-McCray was called for a foul, Timberlake hit two free throws, Kansas pushed it to a 92-89 lead, Samford missed three to tie on the next possession and that was that.
John Calipari and Kentucky players might want to stay off the internet for a few days.
Oakland stunned the Wildcats 80-76 Thursday night in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, and it was another disappointing postseason for Calipari’s program.
Kentucky has just one NCAA Tournament win over the past five seasons. A program that used to regularly compete for national titles now struggles to be relevant in the tournament.
Kentucky is one of the true villains in college basketball.
Since 2019, the Wildcats have won just one NCAA tournament game.
The USMNT snatched an improbable victory from the jaws of defeat with an equalizer in the last breath of regulation time and two goals in extra time to beat Jamaica 3-1 in the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League.
Kentucky coach John Calipari said he would “look at other ways” to approach constructing the team’s roster after Thursday’s first-round loss to Oakland.
Jack Gohlke made 10 3-pointers and 14th-seeded Oakland upset third-seeded Kentucky 80-76 in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday night.
Representatives for Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani have contacted law enforcement authorities to ask to investigate a “massive theft” of money, a source told ESPN.
Michigan defensive line coach Greg Scruggs informed the university of his immediate resignation, five days after his OWI arrest.
The Wolverines hired Scruggs on March 7. Scruggs was off to the races once he arrived in Ann Arbor, abandoning his post after two weeks.
Scruggs was arrested on March 16. He was stopped by police around 2:45 a.m. and attested to drinking at two Ann Arbor restaurants before driving, according to Ann Arbor Police Department authorities.
The coach took two field sobriety tests. His blood-alcohol levels tested double the state limit, .16 and .17.
Samford got screwed out of an amazing March Madness moment by the refs.
The No. 4 seed Kansas Jayhawks led No. 13 seed Samford by 22 points in the second half of their first round matchup in the 2024 men’s NCAA tournament. That’s when the Bulldogs started an inspired run to chip away at the lead and produce what should have been a March Madness classic.
The champions out of the Southern Conference, Samford made it a one-point game with an incredible three-pointer from Jaden Campbell with 20 seconds left.
There are 33 million reasons John Calipari’s latest NCAA tournament disaster won’t cost him his job, but he’s clearly doing something very wrong with the Wildcats.
Oakland’s Jack Gohlke is Cinderella, whether he likes it or not.
Gohlke, a senior guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, may not look the part. But he hit 10-of-20 3-point field goals, or Gohlkes, for the second most in NCAA Tournament history Thursday night to send No. 3 seed Kentucky down the hole to a double-digit seed in the first round for the second time in three years in an 80-76 loss in Pittsburgh.
“Appreciate it,” Gohlke said in a postgame interview. “But we’re not Cinderella.
CHARLOTTE, NC_ Whether it was because there was an arena filled with Tennessee fans on Thursday night in Charlotte, the video board crew inside Spectrum Arena did a great job at getting the crowd riled up, thanks to Kentucky.
There is no compassion for Kentucky fans from those who wear orange, but Tennessee fans had some help inside the arena from one of the last teams to beat Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. Saint Peter’s fans had themselves a nice laugh as the video board cut from the in-game action to the ending of Oakland and the Wildcats.
Jack Gohlke added to Kentucky’s March misery, scoring 32 points on a barrage of catch-and-shoot 3-pointers to fuel Oakland’s stunning upset.

Kentucky’s loss to Oakland is worst game of John Calipari era
The Kentucky Wildcats lived on the edge all season. John Calipari’s team was electric offensively, but seemed to believe defense was optional since the start of the year. Unlike most of Calipari’s best teams, these Wildcats lacked a dominant big man and often got beat up on the boards. When their outside shots were falling, Kentucky looked awesome. But when they were cold, this particularly Wildcats seemed like they could lose to anyone.
Kampe could’ve bolted for bigger jobs in the past 40 years. He stuck around and delivered one of the most memorable March Madness upsets.
A Jamaica own goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time let the USMNT off the hook and into extra time, where Haji Wright scored off two Giovanni Reyna assists to lead the Yanks into another CONCACAF Nations League Final.
Two years after losing to No. 15 St. Peter’s in the NCAA tournament, the Wildcats fell to No. 14 Oakland as Jack Gohlke came off the bench and made 10 3s.
The New York Yankees got a welcome bit of good news on Wednesday night, as superstar outfielder Aaron Judge made his return to the field.
Judge last played 10 days ago, before going down with a mysterious abdominal injury that required an MRI. Around that same time, the Yankees also lost reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole to an arm injury, sparking fears that they’d be without their two best players for a significant amount of time.
Streelman had 10 consecutive one-putts in shooting 7-under 64 on Thursday.
Future NFL Hall of Famer Aaron Donald played until he had nothing left to give the Rams.
Donald announced his retirement after 10 seasons of chasing quarterbacks in the NFL. He accrued 10 Pro Bowl selections, three DPOY awards and a Super Bowl, among the many accolades.
No. 99 reached Lawrence Taylor-level comparisons at his career’s zenith and played at an elite level until his final snap.
Addressing his retirement, Donald released a video on social media, sharing his sincere thoughts on why he decided to step away.
“I’m complete, I’m full.
The Detroit Lions parted ways with cornerback Cameron Sutton on Thursday. Sutton received a three-year, $33 million contract extension in 2021 and played a reliable role on Detroit’s defense.
Everything changed on Wednesday when the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office in Florida requested help from the public in search of the 29-year-old CB.
Authorities were alerted on May 7 of a domestic violence case involving strangulation connected to Sutton. That morning — at roughly 4:30 a.m.
The story of Shohei Ohtani and his interpreter’s gambling problem is still dominating the baseball world. For good reason.
It’s a fascinating story, with a number of inconsistencies and details that deservedly cast doubt on the “official” version of events. Video from the Los Angeles Dodgers dugout from the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game in South Korea also raised questions, considering the pair’s longtime friendship.
Dayton trailed 56-39 before winning 63-60.
The No. 10 Wolf Pack were up 56-39 with less than eight minutes to go before falling apart against the surging Flyers in the NCAA tournament.
The Yahoo Fantasy pod is officially diving into draft season coverage. Every Thursday until the draft, Charles McDonald will be joining the show to break down the class at each skill position. We start, of course, with QBs. Matt Harmon and McDonald dissect the top prospects in this year’s class as well as guys to know on day two and three.
Jermaine Couisnard, who played three seasons for South Carolina, knocked the Gamecocks out of the NCAA tournament with a massive performance.
Max Verstappen Downplays Move Away From Red Bull: ‘I Think There’s Every Reason To Be Happy, Right?’
This season Formula 1 has been more dramatic off the track than on it (at least at the front of the field, I still contend there’s some great action down the order).
One of the biggest bits of drama has come from the persistent rumors that turmoil at Red Bull could cause three-time champion Max Verstappen to see what other options are out there well before his contract ends after the 2028 season.
Believe it or not, in all the NCAA Tournament games that have ever been played, only 9 times did a player record a triple-double prior to Thursday. That elite list added a new name, with Illinois guard Marcus Domask achieving the feat in his team’s win over Morehead State in the First Round.
Morehead State entered the NCAA Tournament on a six-game winning streak that included an Ohio Valley Tournament Championship to clinch an automatic bid.
Dan Dakich is a fearless show host at OutKick – and also a legend in the world of basketball, particularly in the state of Indiana.
And on Wednesday night, Dakich officially joined the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame as an inductee of the Class of 2024.
From Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis, Dakich was honored by his peers, and welcomed into the growing legacy of Indiana basketball.
The Kings provided no timetable for Kevin Huerter’s return.
The NCAA Tournament is underway and March Madness is in full-swing. Thursday saw a huge upset as #11 Duquesne, a nine-point underdog, beat #6 BYU in the second game of the day. The #11 Oregon Ducks beating the #6 South Carolina Gamecocks would qualify as a seeding upset, although Oregon was actually favored to win prior to tip-off.
The Ducks looked the part of the better team despite their lower seeding, coming out flying (pardon the pun) against the mostly-flightless Gamecocks (enjoy that pun).
Augusta National has been spared a visit from past champion Angel Cabrera at next month’s Masters after he was denied a visa to enter the United States following his time spent in prison for domestic violence.
Two years after losing to No. 15 St. Peters in the NCAA tournament, the Wildcats are trailing the No. 14 Golden Grizzlies. Get updates on all the games here.
Charles McDonald and Nate Tice have five quarterbacks off the board in the top 13, a big-time weapon for Aaron Rodgers, some steals late in the first round and more.
There’s a hockey mascot accused of injuring a player and you might be stunned to learn that it isn’t Gritty.
In fact, we can clear every NHL mascot because this incident happened over in Europe.
Sm-Liiga is the top league in Finland and on Thursday night the league’s top team, Tappara Tampere, was playing host to another club called TPS Turku.
Tappara helped themselves to a 4-1 win, but one moment in the game caught some attention over on Reddit.
I have no idea what Long Beach State athletic director Bobby Smitheran was thinking last week about the job status of now fired head coach Dan Monson, but it seems like it was all planned.
For the past week, Don Monson has been coaching Long Beach State knowing that each game could be his last, because he was fired by the school last Monday. So, creating headlines has been pretty easy for the head coach and his basketball team, given that they just kept winning after he was fired.

From Chicago to even Pittsburgh, the NL Central is truly up for grabs in this upcoming season.
Let’s not beat around the bush, here: The National League representative for this season’s World Series very likely won’t come out of the Central Division.
