The NBA is looking into launching a European league with Fiba, the world governing body.
The initial plan is for a 16-team league, with 12 permanent teams and four who would have to qualify each year.
The NBA said: “Under the plan being explored, the new league would be integrated into the current European basketball landscape, with teams also participating in their respective national leagues.

Manchester Thunder and newcomers Nottingham Forest both posted their first wins of the Netball Super League season last weekend – and on Friday they go head to head on the BBC.
Thunder, who beat Birmingham Panthers 77-47, host a Forest side who got off the mark with a 70-54 victory against Cardiff Dragons.
One match per round in the regular season will be broadcast on the BBC as part of a two-year deal with the NSL.

NEW YORK — Longtime CBS Sports college football analyst Gary Danielson will retire after the 2025 season.
That will be his 36th season on television, making him the longest-tenured college football analyst on any network.
“I have discussed the timing of this moment with CBS Sports leadership over the past few years and we felt it was important I remained with the team during our transition to the Big Ten. As we enter our second full season of Big Ten football and my 20th at CBS Sports, the timing just feels right,” Danielson said Wednesday in a statement.
