PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Nick Castellanos hit a grand slam, and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied with two runs in the seventh inning to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 on Sunday.
The Phillies took two of three from the World Series champion Dodgers, a series that might not mean much by October but put a little juice into an early April weekend.
Teoscar Hernández homered twice and had five RBIs for the Dodgers, whose only two losses this season came in this three-game series.
Castellanos hit his eighth career grand slam on reliever Alex Vesia’s first pitch in the third inning.

NEW YORK — You can’t always take Josh Hart seriously. His jokes fly fast, often hiding more truth than fiction. But every now and then, Hart hits the nail on the head. When the Knicks swingman spoke about how Jalen Brunson’s return might change the way New York plays, his words felt prophetic.
“Kal and OG being in a good rhythm offensively — that’s a good thing,” Hart predicted after the Knicks practiced at Georgia Tech’s Zelnak Center on Friday.
PITTSBURGH – After another scoreless outing, Brent Headrick received a demotion.
The Yankees optioned the left-handed reliever on Sunday night. The move came just a few hours after Headrick struck out four batters over two scoreless innings and 36 pitches in the Yankees’ 11-inning loss to the Pirates. The move also came as Adam Ottavino was making his way to Detroit to meet up with the Yankees for their series opener against the Tigers on Monday, a source confirmed to the Daily News.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Cole Caufield and Patrik Laine scored in the second period to rally the Montreal Canadiens to a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Sunday night.
Jakub Dobes turned back 36 shots for the Canadiens, who extended their winning streak to five games after a five-game skid.
Steven Stamkos scored and Juuse Saros made 15 saves for Nashville, which was scoreless on four power plays and lost its sixth straight and for the seventh time in eight games.
Stamkos opened the scoring at 4:19 into the first off a feed from Filip Forsberg for his 25th of the season.
The Texas Tech baseball team always appreciates Logan Hughes’s presence, given that he leads the Red Raiders in home runs and runs batted in.
They got a gentle reminder of his importance Sunday.
Hughes delivered a go-ahead two-run double in a five-run eighth inning, then made a diving catch in left field to end the game as Tech rallied past Cincinnati 12-8, salvaging the last game in a doubleheader and a three-game Big 12 series at Dan Law Field/Rip Griffin Park.
That was after Hughes homered in the third inning and drew a warning from an umpire.

NEW YORK (AP) — OG Anunoby scored 19 of his 32 points in a perfect third quarter to keep up the best scoring stretch of his career, even with Jalen Brunson returning to New York’s lineup, as the Knicks beat the Phoenix Suns 112-98 on Sunday night.
Brunson had 15 points and six assists after missing 15 games with a sprained right ankle that he sustained exactly a month earlier. The Knicks didn’t need much from their All-Star guard, especially while Anunoby was going 7 for 7 in the third quarter, 5 for 5 from 3-point range.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are on top of the men’s college basketball world. Well, sort of.
No, there wasn’t a last-minute change to the March Madness tournament where Nebraska took the place of Florida or Houston in Monday’s final. The Cornhuskers were taking part in the first ever “College Basketball Crown” (CBC) tournament, in which the winner took home a $300,000 cash prize.
On Sunday, Nebraska etched themselves in the CBC history books and walked away a few hundred grand richer.
The Cornhuskers topped the UCF Knights 77-66 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
