MIAMI (AP) — Seiya Suzuki homered, doubled and had four RBIs, Kyle Tucker also went deep and the Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 14-1 on Tuesday night.
In his second game as designated hitter this season, Tucker also had two singles and walked. Justin Turner singled twice and doubled, while Matt Shaw doubled and singled for the Cubs, who matched a season-high with 21 hits.
Jameson Taillon (3-3) scattered one run and four hits over seven innings. The right-hander walked three and struck out two to snap a two-start losing streak.
This is not a holdout, and this is not new. Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons was a no-show on Tuesday as the club had their second day of OTA activity, and the first of the new season open to the media. Parsons, who has been angling for an extension since he became eligible prior to last season, was also a spotty attendant during the 2024 OTA sessions. And the 2023 sessions. In other words, despite wanting to work out a new deal, Parsons’ absence isn’t really related to the obvious goal.
NEW YORK — Will Warren remembers being frustrated with himself last season.
The 25-year-old had just pitched in his first five big league games for the Yankees, and they weren’t particularly impressive. With a 9.55 ERA over 21 2/3 innings in July and August, Warren ended up back in Triple-A by the time September rolled around.
“I was down in the dumps, because I want to be good,” Warren told the New York Daily News. “I hold myself to a high standard. So I expected to just come in here and figure it out and go dominate. And that’s not how it was.
