These players could be the ones to crash the round one party
Every year, there’s a player that surprises the NFL world by going way higher than consensus. Michael Penix Jr. going 8th to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, Cole Strange going in round one to the New England Patriots in 2022, and many more surprises that threw the NFL Draft on tilt. 2025 is bound to have some surprises come Thursday, largely because of how much is unknown about this class.
After maybe the first two or three picks, everything is on the table.

Jonathan Smith’s first recruiting class appears to be losing a two more players, both wide receivers.
Austin Clay has entered the transfer portal, a Michigan State football spokesman confirmed, while Jaylan Brown is expected to follow him, according to his trainer, Sean Cooper. The school did not immediately have confirmation on Brown’s official transfer status.
The two true freshmen were part of the 2024 class Smith assembled after taking the MSU job in November 2023. Both were three-star recruits, and neither saw game action last fall.

After Rory McIlroy’s Masters victory produced an eye-popping viewership figure last week, Justin Thomas breaking his winless drought and capturing the RBC Heritage in a playoff Sunday had another stellar figure for CBS and the PGA Tour.
The tally: 4.36 million people tuned in to the final round at Harbour Town Golf Links, which ended in a playoff with Thomas burying a birdie putt to beat Andrew Novak. The number is a 103 percent increase over 2024, which had a weather delay during the final round and finished Monday.

The 2025 NFL Draft takes place this week in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24 to 26. Over three days and seven rounds, the next crop of rookies will hear their names called to become a part of the National Football League.
The Oklahoma Sooners lost a total of 19 players from their 2024 roster to exhausted eligibility and/or the NFL Draft. A total of 17 of those players (minus offensive lineman Branson Hickman and long snapper Ethan Lane) have declared for the draft and have spent the past few months trying to prove to NFL GMs and coaches that they deserve to be selected this week.
