Notre Dame has made an offer to Paris Melvin Jr.
Melvin Jr. is a defensive back and return specialist out of the Houston area, and he has been recruited by Fighting Irish associate head coach and running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
The Cy Springs High School student is a four-star athlete who has received over 20 offers, including from schools like Michigan, Oklahoma and Cal.
Melvin Jr. stands 6’0″ and is 170 pounds. Rivals has him ranked as the 37th best player in Texas and 12th best defensive back in the state.

The Colorado Rockies ended an eight-game losing streak as Brenton Doyle hit a tiebreaking home run off reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale in the third inning of a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
Colorado had lost 16 of its previous 17 games and had been outscored by 78 runs. At 5-25, the Rockies avoided joining the 1988 Baltimore Orioles as the only teams since 1901 to lose at least 26 of their first 30 games.
Doyle homered on an inside fastball, ending an 0-for-20 skid with a 421-foot drive to left-center. He later doubled.
NESN beefed up its talent roster for Red Sox coverage Wednesday by hiring someone who is very familiar to baseball fans nationwide.
The network has added former MLB Network contributor and Dodgers sideline reporter Alanna Rizzo as a “general sports reporter and analyst‚” according to a press release. Rizzo’s duties, which begin in May, will include “co-host of the network’s alternate broadcast, “Unobstructed Views presented by Blue Moon”, occasional host and sideline reporter for NESN’s Red Sox coverage, and other general reporting.

The 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway and the second round matchups are coming into focus. We don’t have a start date for the next round, but it will likely be around May 4 or 5, depending on if any of the first round series go seven games.
The Carolina Hurricanes were the first team to clinch and their second-round opponent, the Washington Capitals, followed them.

JJ Redick, the podcaster-turned-Los Angeles Lakers coach, took a question about his coaching to heart after a media member poked him on his substituting of players.
Without much experience to reference, Redick is learning on the job, and it’s possibly costing the Lakers.
Redick was asked if he would ‘lean’ on his assistant coaches in Wednesday’s elimination game versus the Timberwolves.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Bo Naylor hit a three-run homer and Luis Ortiz kept Minnesota’s hitters off balance and off the scoreboard for 6 1/3 innings, leading the Cleveland Guardians to a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.
Naylor connected in the seventh inning off reliever Brock Stewart after the Guardians finally scratched out a run against Minnesota starter Pablo López (2-2), who held Cleveland scoreless over the first 6 1/3 innings.
Cade Smith (1-0) struck out the only two batters he faced.
The Logansport softball team pummeled Class 3A No. 3 Western 10-2 Wednesday at Fincher Field to gain a series split.
The Panthers handed the Berries a 4-0 defeat Tuesday in Russiaville.
Western (13-3, 4-2 HC East) is the defending state champion in Class 3A and is the Berries’ new rival in both 3A and the Hoosier Conference.
The Berries (10-2, 3-1) gained some state recognition earlier this week as they have the 13th most votes in Class 3A.
After managing just three hits Tuesday, the Berries came out swinging Wednesday and outhit the Panthers 13-2.
