TAMPA, Fla. — The New York Yankees were winners as visitors in their spring training home for the first time.
New York was back at Steinbrenner Field for a four-game series against the displaced Tampa Bay Rays, who are using their AL East rival’s ballpark for their home games this season.
Ben Rice had his first big league four-hit game and drove in two runs, Oswaldo Cabrera hit a solo homer and New York rallied to beat the Rays 6-3.
“It was a great environment,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “Obviously, a ton of Yankees fans.

Much of the talk on both sides of the field leading up to the game was about the odd circumstances:
The Yankees returning to their spring training base at Steinbrenner Field as the guests and using the cramped visitors’ clubhouse, while the Rays were relishing the comforts of their division rivals’ recently upgraded plush home.
“I don’t think they’ll be too happy about that,” Rays infielder/outfielder Richie Palacios said before the game, “but we’re enjoying the facilities.
NEW YORK — Darryl Strawberry says Major League Baseball needs to focus on developing and marketing the game within the inner cities in order for the percentage of Black players to rise substantially.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Jazz Chisholm Jr. was ejected from the New York Yankees’ 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night, then appeared to violate Major League Baseball’s social media policy when he posted in-game criticism online.
Chisholm was ejected in the seventh inning by plate umpire John Bacon for arguing after a called third strike on a full-count pitch from Mason Montgomery that appeared low, his fifth career ejection and first with the Yankees.
He posted on his X account, “Not even … close!!!!!” with a profanity mixed in, then deleted the post.
So much has been made of Bronny James and what he has done as a rookie this season. While he shuttled back and forth between the NBA and the G League and did very little of note in the big league, he showed lots of promise during the G League regular season by averaging 21.9 points, 5.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds a game while shooting 44% overall and 38% from 3-point range.
But he isn’t the only son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James who has promise and potential. Bryce James, the superstar’s youngest son, committed to play for the University of Arizona next season.
After being swept by Auburn last weekend, LSU entered the weekend needing a response. The Tigers tried to accomplish that as they welcomed the Alabama Crimson Tide to Baton Rouge. The Tigers trailed 5-1 before scoring 10 straight runs to win this one 11-6.
LSU’s biggest issue at Auburn was the bats going ice cold. Tonight, that problem continued to persist in the early stages of the game.
In the top of the first inning, Alabama got on the board first with a solo shot to go up 1-0.
Juventus Resume Working on Two Contract Extensions
Juventus are ready to reprise the negotiations for some renewals, especially those of Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie, after putting everything on hold because of the coaching change and to pursue a top-four finish, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Bianconeri reached an agreement in principle with the former a while ago, but it wasn’t finalized. The new expiration date will be 2030, with a decent pay bump. He’ll return in mid-May from his fibula microfracture.
