Max Scherzer had some fun with questionable umpiring during Friday night’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland Guardians.
The home plate umpire for the game was CB Bucknor, not exactly known for having the best and most consistent strike zone. Scherzer, hanging in the dugout, let Bucknor know that he had an opinion on how Bucknor was making his calls.
For several minutes, Scherzer brought out a coin and flipped it after pitch, implying that Bucknor was making calls using a similar strategy.

The Green Bay Packers waited until the late rounds to add to their defensive line group, selecting Georgia’s Warren Brinson in the sixth round.
He is a big man at 6-5 ⅕” and 315 pounds and is an impressive athlete for a bigger defensive tackle. Brinson scored a 9.10 Relative Athletic Score (RAS), including an “elite” size grade, a “great” explosion grade and a “good” speed grade.
Versatility is something the Packers always look for in players, and Brinson checks that box, able to line up anywhere along the line of scrimmage.
The purse at this week’s PGA Tour event, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, is $9.9 million, with $1.782 million going to the winner. There are also 500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs for this week’s champ.
The CJ Cup Byron Nelson began Thursday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, outside of Dallas. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and fellow Dallas resident Jordan Spieth highlighted the field, which was lacking star power due to its spot on the schedule.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene went up to plate in the ninth inning against the Los Angeles Angels Friday night looking to break a 1-1 tie. He did just that…and then some.
In the top of the ninth, Riley was the first batter to face Kenley Jansen in the inning. He promptly took one of the best relievers in MLB history deep to give his team a lead.
Greene said afterward that he wasn’t so sure that dinger was actually going to clear the fence.
“I got it, but it didn’t feel too good,” he said of the first homer, according to MLB.com.
