The German started his career at his hometown club of Bochum before joining Schalke in 2013. During his time with the Royal Blues, he emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga, which earned him a transfer to Bayern Munich in 2018.

ROME (AP) — The toll from clashes between violent fans and police at the weekend’s Rome derby includes 24 law enforcement officers injured, one arrest and at least 40,000 euros ($45,000) in damaged garbage dumpsters.
Officials in the capital were still trying to sum up the damages after fans on Sunday attacked police in riot gear in a heavily populated area where people had been gathering ahead of the Serie A game between Lazio and Roma.
“I am disgusted,” said Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri.

Iraq announced on Tuesday the dismissal of head coach Jesus Casas with just two games remaining in Asian qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
In a statement, the Iraq Football Association said that the decision was due to a “serious breach of contractual obligations,” from the Spanish boss and his assistants, “including their departure from Iraq without official permission . . . “
The federation added the action was taken based on Article 14 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfers of Players.

Sky Germany reveal Borussia Dortmund’s transfer stance on Carney Chukwuemeka

Borussia Dortmund are considering another loan deal for Carney Chukwuemeka this summer according to reports.
Chukwuemeka arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2022 for around £20m from Aston Villa, but his time at the club has been plagued by injury issues.
The 21-year-old made just five appearances for the Blues in the first half of the season, with just one start against Astana in the Conference League.

Concacaf president Victor Montagliani has criticised a proposal to expand the 2030 men’s World Cup to 64 teams.
The plans, put forward by South American governing body Conmebol, have also drawn opposition from Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The tournament will be hosted by Spain, Morocco and Portugal, after the opening matches are held in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
