The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has opened a Title IX investigation into Portland Public Schools for allowing a trans-identifying male athlete to compete in women’s sports, OutKick has learned.
As OutKick previously reported, “Ada” Gallagher is a biological male who won a high school state championship in track & field last year. Gallagher has continued to compete in the girls’ division, despite President Donald Trump signing an executive order to prevent males from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

The NFL quarterback market is a pretty tough scene.
Thanks to how quickly the NFL Combine and free agency arrive on the calendar, there are no real breaks from after the Super Bowl until they begin. We are fortunate in that sense.
While last week brought the beginning of the NCAA Tournament, that is also synonymous with the first doldrums of the offseason for the NFL. All of the notable free agent things have happened and the NFL Draft is still a bit away. Now is when we grind. This is why we lift all of those weights.

Carolina Panthers fans experienced the official end to an era on Tuesday.
Tight end Ian Thomas is moving on, as the 28-year-old veteran signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this afternoon. The change of scenery will be the first for Thomas, who spent each of his first seven NFL seasons in Carolina.
The Panthers selected the Indiana University product in the fourth round of the 2018 draft. He’s since gone on to total 119 receptions for 1,062 yards and four touchdowns over 99 games with the organization.
Thomas, entering the 2024 campaign was the fourth-longest tenured Panther.
The two teams that advance from the regional based in Spokane, Washington, will trek more than 2,800 miles diagonally across the United States to the Final Four site in Tampa. The other two will be in the air barely longer than an hour on their trip from Birmingham, Alabama.
The NCAA moved from four regional sites to two “super regional” locations for the women’s tournament in 2023 to generate more interest and revenue. In all three seasons, the locations were in the Pacific Northwest and dotted near the East Coast.

TUSCALOOSA — In March, college basketball typically dominates the sporting news cycle. Alabama has been one of the top programs in the NCAA Tournament over the past few seasons, reaching its first Final Four in school history in 2024.
Houston and Gonzaga met in a second-round NCAA Tournament matchup last weekend in Wichita, Kansas, that could as easily have been played in the Final Four, the way Kelvin Sampson’s and Mark Few’s teams had played throughout the season.
The Cougars were No. 1 in scoring defense, more than a half-point better than the next-best team. The Bulldogs were No. 2 in scoring offense, trailing only Alabama in putting up nearly 87 points per game.
The transfer portal is open for college basketball despite the NCAA Tournament still ongoing. On Monday, Luke Northweather and Yaya Keita entered the portal, and now the Sooners have lost another forward. Former four-star prospect Jacolb Fredson-Cole has filed paperwork to enter the transfer portal, according to reports.
Fredson-Cole was a four-star player in the 247Sports composite and considered the No. 103 player in the nation coming out of high school. However, he never got on track with the Sooners, playing in just 15 games for the Sooners and averaging just 4.6 minutes per game.
