Mar. 27โMURRAY, Ky. โ Murray State University athletic director Nico Yantko said Thursday that his men’s basketball coaching search was looking for a number of boxes to check to lead the Racers.
That included a coach with tenacious competitiveness, a proven winner, a relentless recruiter and someone who built positive relationships nationally.
Ryan Miller checked all of those boxes and the longtime college basketball assistant has scored his first head coach job with the Racers in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Kendrick Perkins would prefer LeBron James find a black co-host for his podcast.
That is clearly the point the ESPN commentator tried to make on Thursday while discussing James’ ongoing WWE-style feud with Stephen A. Smith.
Perkins, hardly the brightest tool in the shed, criticized James for replacing J.J. Redick with Steve Nash as his new podcast host. He then listed four random black players/coaches who James should have chosen instead.
Smith agreed:
“I’ll just leave it at that,” Perkins exclaimed with a wink in his eye.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) โ The Washington Capitals signed defenseman Dylan McIlrath to a two-year, $1.6 million contract Thursday.
The 32-year-old McIlrath has two assists in 11 games this season. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
McIlrath captained Washington affiliate Hershey’s 2023 and 2024 Calder Cup championship teams in the American Hockey League. The 6-foot-6 defender has three goals and six assists in 86 career NHL regular-season games with Washington, Florida, the New York Rangers and Detroit.
