In a surprising twist, the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) has officially dropped its long-standing pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti, according to a report from SPORT. 
The Real Madrid manager, who was once the dream appointment for the Brazilian national team, is no longer in contention to lead the Selecao—even if he parts ways with Los Blancos at the end of the season.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has reportedly grown weary of the uncertainty and complications surrounding Ancelotti’s availability.

MIAMI (AP) — Title fights are nothing new to Alexander Volkanovski.
His featherweight bout early Sunday morning against Diego Lopes was his 10th championship fight in a row, but Volkanovski had been in a slump in which he had lost three of his past four matches.
He left little doubt against Lopes at UFC 314, winning by unanimous decision. Two judges scored the fight 49-46 and the other had it 48-47.
“It’s good to be back,” Volkanovski said. “I promised my girls I would bring the belt back to them. It doesn’t matter about bringing the belt back.

Alexander Volkanovski is atop the throne once again.
In the UFC 314 main event Saturday, Volkanovski (27-5 MMA, 14-4 UFC) defeated Diego Lopes (27-6 MMA, 6-1 UFC) via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46). The vacant featherweight title fight took place at Kaseya Center in Miami.
Entering the fight, questions were raised about Volkanovski’s chin and how he’d bounce back from back-to-back knockout losses. However, from the opening bell, Volkanovski showed no fear. He marched toward Lopes in an aggressive attack.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Noah Hanifin scored the go-ahead goal with 1:55 to play and the Vegas Golden Knights went on to a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday that clinched their fourth Pacific Division title in the team’s eight-year history.
Brett Howden and Nicolas Roy had a goal and an assist each for the Golden Knights, Alexander Holtz scored on the power play and Ivan Barbashev added an empty-netter.
