ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Steven Lorentz scored the tiebreaking goal on an artful deflection with 8:25 to play, and the Toronto Maple Leafs blew a two-goal lead before rallying for a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.
Max Domi and Mitch Marner also scored and Joseph Woll made 28 saves for the Atlantic Division-leading Leafs, who went 2-0-1 on their three-game California trip by beating Los Angeles and Anaheim on back-to-back nights.
Sometimes in the NFL draft, doing the right thing doesn’t involve filling the biggest need. Teams willing to keep the big picture in mind stand to gain the most on draft day. Teams singularly focused on just the upcoming season are doomed to make mistakes.
Then again, the Dallas Cowboys have so many glaring needs, they can ill afford to stray off the needs list with their first pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Receiver, cornerback and defensive tackle are the most critical needs currently on the Cowboys needs list this offseason. Running back and linebacker aren’t far behind.

The New York Yankees’ new and very legal baseball bats (fit with a skinny handle and swollen barrel) are catching attention from around the league, especially with the Bronx Bombers starting their year with a scoring barrage.
In their first three games this season, the undefeated Yankees (3-0) have tallied 36 runs, including an impressive 15 home runs.
Acknowledging the Yankees’ slugging power, San Diego Padres star Manny Machado commented during ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball broadcast that his team might consider adopting these bats.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Nick Pivetta threw seven innings of one-hit ball in a brilliant debut with the Padres and Manny Machado returned to the lineup and hit an RBI double as San Diego beat the Atlanta Braves 5-0 on Sunday night to sweep a season-opening, four-game series.
The Padres are 4-0 for the first time since 1998, the last time they reached the World Series. The Braves were shut out a second straight game and are 0-4 for the first time since 2021.
