THIBODAUX, Louisiana – Texas redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning drew quite a crowd, as usual, at the star-studded Manning Passing Academy media day at Nicholls State University here Friday.
He did draw the largest crowd at the College Football Playoff semifinal media day at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans last season, even though he has played in exactly two college games in his career, completing 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards.

Friday was not the smoothest of days for Daniel Ricciardo at the F1 Austrian Grand Prix
Friday was not the easiest of days for Daniel Ricciardo as the 2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix got underway.
But despite the early struggles, one of F1’s main attractions is staying upbeat.
Ricciardo posted the 16th-fastest time in the single practice of the week, and could not improve on that position in Friday’s F1 Sprint Qualifying session. The Visa Cash App RB F1 Team driver finished 16th, leading to his elimination in SQ1.

Bhatia kept his scorecard clean again at the Rocket Mortgage Classic as he maintained his lead ahead of the weekend.
Akshay Bhatia put together another strong round at Detroit Golf Club to maintain his lead at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He signed for a bogey-free 5-under 67 to sit at 13-under total.
The two-time PGA Tour winner leads the morning wave by two shots as Taylor Montgomery and Troy Merritt sit at 11-under. Merritt fired off an 8-under 64 to move up 38 spots.

Godspeed to all NIKE shareholders today after the company was down 20% today on the stock market.
The major downfall comes as Nike (NKE) said it expected revenue to decline 10% in the first quarter of 2025 with next year’s annual revenue to also decline overall. What hurt the retailer even more was the fact that they had initially told shareholders that they were expecting a sales growth next year. 
Clearly, Nike’s internal analysts blew that one worse than Rory McIlroy’s putt performance at this year’s U.S. Open.

The Netherlands recently came to a decision not to send three of four Dutch golfers to the Paris Olympics who qualified for the upcoming Games, admitting that it doesn’t believe they can contend for a medal. The country has no issue sending a convicted child rapist to Paris to represent the Dutch, however.
Steven van de Velde is set to represent the Netherlands in the 2024 Olympics as a member of the men’s beach volleyball team, eight years after being convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl.

Alpine got both drivers into the third segment of qualifying Friday, showing yet more progress this F1 season
Friday was another positive session, with more evidence of progress, for Alpine.
Amidst the picturesque backdrop provided by the Styrian mountains, 20 Formula 1 cars roared to life on Friday at Red Bull Ring, as qualifying for tomorrow’s F1 Sprint Race was on the schedule. Once again Alpine saw both Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon advance into the third and final segment of qualifying, as both drivers moved out of SQ2 and into SQ3.
