Major championships are going to play harder than your average week on tour. It’s not surprising to see players at the U.S. Women’s Open missing more fairways and greens at Riviera, the ultimate strategic design. But there’s something interesting in Nelly Korda’s stats through three rounds that shows a player can miss a lot of greens, while still hitting it great.
Korda is the best ball-striker on the LPGA Tour and has averaged 77 percent greens in regulation during the 2026 season. At the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera C.C.

After a tense afternoon that saw the Tigers forced to come back repeatedly to keep pace with the Mariners, they reached the ninth inning still down a run. The Mariners ran themselves into a pair of dumb outs on the bases with Will Vest on the mound, and that set the stage. The back of the Tigers’ order did a nice job waiting out a wild Andrés Muñoz to draw a pair of walks, and managed to turn the lineup over to star rookie Kevin McGonigle, who had already homered in the game.

With a couple of exceptions, Michael McGreevy gave the St. Louis Cardinals a good start Sunday. Fortunately, the St. Louis Cardinals woke up in time to complete the sweep of the Cincinnati Reds Sunday.
My fear is that the narrative of this game would be all of the runners the Cardinals stranded on base Sunday.

Despite a ferocious comeback, Mississippi State’s baseball season has come to an end.
The No. 14 Bulldogs (43-19) lost to No. 3 Georgia 11-9 in 10 innings on June 7 in Game 2 of the Athens Super Regional at Foley Field.
Mississippi State fell in Game 1 on June 6, 13-12, after Georgia (51-12) rallied from a seven-run deficit.
The loss sends Georgia to the College World Series, which begins on June 12 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Mississippi State was aiming for its first trip to the CWS since its national title in 2021.
