Grading every deal at the NFL trade deadline as it happens.
The NFL trade deadline is normally an enormously hyped entry on the calendar that leads to nothing. However, in 2024 things are very different. We’ve never had a season where so many teams had such an array of issues, and that’s created a perfect storm where anyone, and everyone who thinks they can compete for a Super Bowl is trying to patch their rosters.
This has been caused by two huge factors: Injuries, and changing trends around the league.
Dan Campbell told his Detroit Lions team during his postgame speech on Sunday they can beat anyone. And because of that, the team had to make Tuesday’s trade for pass rusher Za’Darius Smith.
The Lions, you see, have a goal this year.
They expect to win the Super Bowl.
They have the best record in the NFC and second best in the entire NFL so who’s going to say they can’t do it? But there was one problem with that goal:
The club lost Aidan Hutchinson to a fractured fibula and tibia injury weeks ago.
The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m.
