No. 8 Alabama has officially sent the College Football Playoff into chaos with its upset win over No. 1 Georgia in the SEC championship.
Leading the way for the Crimson Tide was quarterback Jalen Milroe, who finished Saturday’s game with 192 passing yards and two touchdowns, as well as a few massive plays made with his feet.
But it’s possible Milroe’s most important play of the game was one he completely improvised.
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Alabama had the ball and a 20–17 lead over the Bulldogs.

Teams are pulling out all the stops to sign all-world free agent Shohei Ohtani. But efforts to reel in the notoriously private superstar aren’t limited to organizations or executives.
Even players are getting in on the action, albeit with limited success.
The San Francisco Giants have long been rumored to be interested in pursuing Ohtani, unsurprisingly, given his talent and the team’s desperate need for offense. And the Giants best player, starting pitcher Logan Webb, is doing his part to try and bring Ohtani to the Bay Area.
For those who don’t fancy a soccer match, the only thing more boring than soccer itself could be the draw for an upcoming tournament. However, someone decided to liven up the draw for the Euro 2024 tournament.
And they were loving it.
A draw like this is about as dull as it comes. I get that there’s a level of suspense involved by watching some dude just hold up cards makes a scoreless soccer match feel like a Fast & Furious movie.
So, maybe that’s why someone decided to make things a little more interesting.
Saturday should have been a celebratory day for Kentucky men’s basketball, as the program debuted a brand new court at Rupp Arena. Instead, the Wildcats suffered their second loss of the season, and it isn’t one that John Calipari will be able to write off too easily.
Kentucky, an 18.5-point favorite entering Saturday’s game, fell to UNC Wilmington 80–73. The stunning loss comes just days after Kentucky notched a statement win in the ACC/SEC challenge, taking down No. 8 Miami, 95–73.
Calipari’s club struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting just 40.
Miami (OH) RedHawks quarterback Ben Roethlisberger got penalized in today’s MAC title game…wait, what?
At least, that’s what it seemed like for a moment in today’s game against the Toledo Rockets.
During the RedHawks’ 23-14 win, a referee called a holding penalty on Miami. The official indicated that the penalty was on No. 7, which wasn’t logically possible.
In 2007, Miami retired that number after Roethlisberger left for the NFL in 2003. The eventual Pittsburgh Steelers legend left his college with a 65.
No. 8 Alabama’s 27–24 upset win over No. 1 Georgia in the SEC championship game has sent the 2023 College Football Playoff into absolute chaos.
The Tide took a 17–7 halftime lead and were able thwart a second-half comeback by the Bulldogs. Alabama’s (12–1) suffocating defense was the deciding factor in the victory as Nick Saban’s squad held Georgia to just 4-of-12 (33.3%) on third-downs.
Alabama’s 11th consecutive win now puts tremendous pressure on the committee to decide which four teams should earn a coveted berth in the College Football Playoff.
ALABAMA. SEC CHAMPS.
Georgia has still never beaten the Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game. Jalen Milroe’s big runs on the final possession finished off the top-ranked Bulldogs’ 29-game win streak.
UFC Austin got off to quite a start.
Stephen Curry even amazes himself on the court sometimes.
One of those instances occurred in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 113—112 loss to the Clippers on Saturday, when Curry hit a stepback three over two Los Angeles defenders. The Warriors sharpshooter immediately put his hands over his face in disbelief at the difficulty of the shot he had just hit.
Stephen Curry couldn’t believe he made this shot 😂 pic.twitter.
College football’s conference championship games invariably double as summits (and advertisements) for FBS’s 10 conferences. As much as vehicles for crowning a champion, the games serve as informal trade shows for the league’s football personnel and beyond.
“Football personnel and beyond,” however, is hardly limited to humans. Mascots are often seen goofing off in these settings; Friday’s meeting of Pac-12 mascots became an object of pathos as that league nears its demise.
