Katherine Keating is on her two-week break from running after her second straight sensational season as North Jersey’s top distance runner.
But that doesn’t mean that the Ridgewood junior is totally taking it easy during her break.
“I’m working on a team project in our HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) club and another project in the applied engineering club,” said Keating, the North Jersey Female Athlete of the Week, presented by HSS.
If things had worked out exactly how Evan Yuzon planned, the junior would be playing football and lacrosse at Glen Rock High School.
Circumstances brought him to track and field instead and made him the top sophomore shot putter in the state a year ago. But he knew that using the traditional glide method was limiting his development as a thrower.
So after throwing a personal best 56-7 1/4 and becoming the only North Jersey shot putter to ever defeat Bergen County record holder and reigning state shot put champ Benji Shue, he spent last summer learning how to spin.
Former South Africa cricketer Faf du Plessis has weighed in on Rajasthan Royals’ decision to part ways with their long-time star and face of the franchise, Sanju Samson, ahead of IPL 2026. Samson, who represented the Royals for over a decade across 11 seasons, has been traded to five-time champions Chennai Super Kings and will sport the yellow jersey in the upcoming season.

Middle Tennessee State women’s basketball coach Rick Insell likely can’t count the number of times he has been asked about retirement the past few years.
But he knew the time was coming sooner rather than later.
Insell made it official on March 19, announcing his retirement from coaching at the conclusion of the season, marking the end of arguably the most successful era of women’s basketball the school has seen.
“I guess, more than anything, it’s about my grandkids,” said Insell, citing wanting to spend more time with his family, including his wife, Deb.

The Auburn Tigers’ basketball program has been the subject of intense scrutiny this basketball season.
For starters, one of the most successful coaches in program history, Bruce Pearl, stepped down prior to the start of the season and appointed his son, Steven, as his immediate successor.
