The New England Patriots are reportedly signing three-time First-Team All-Pro safety Kevin Byard to a one-year, $9 million deal, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Wednesday.
Byard spent multiple seasons working with Patriots coach Mike Vrabel during their time together with the Tennessee Titans. So it’ll be a reunion between coach and player. As for the Patriots, they’ll be getting one of the best safeties in the NFL over the last decade.
Byard is a proven playmaker who led the NFL in interceptions last season, despite being 32 years old.
Emery confirms huge Aston Villa injury boost
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has been handed a huge injury boost with the return of captain John McGinn ahead of their Europa League last 16 tie.
The Scotland international has been sidelined for almost two months after sustaining a knee injury back in January. However, the midfielder was involved in team training earlier today and has now travelled with Emery’s side to France as they prepare to take on Lille.
“As a captain he adds something more,” said Emery.
The New York Giants have requested approval from the NFL’s Finance Committee for ownership transactions involving the Tisch family, according to an ESPN report.
Steve Tisch, Jonathan Tisch and Laurie Tisch plan to transfer their remaining stakes into trusts for their children, the report says, citing a memo obtained from the league.
An individual familiar with the situation indicated to NorthJersey.com and The Record that the requested transfer was a step in the estate planning process. Through a spokesperson, the Giants offered no comment regarding the request from the Tisch family.
