New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick confirmed Friday that kicking footballs were indeed underinflated during the first half of his team’s 27–17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
“Yeah, we were aware of it in the first quarter,” Belichick told reporters Friday. “How it happened? Well, the officials handled that, and they were underinflated by two, two-and-a-half pounds. I think you could see that by the kicks.”
MassLive.com first reported Wednesday that the balls used for kicking in the first half weighed in at 11 PSI, well short of the league’s 13.
It’s all love for Jordan Poole in the Bay Area.
Poole, preparing to suit up at Chase Center on Friday night for the first time since the Golden State Warriors traded him to the Washington Wizards in July, was welcomed back to San Francisco with a few warm embraces from former teammates.
Warriors star guard Steph Curry gave him a big hug during pregame warm-ups, as did center Kevon Looney, who also grew up in the Milwaukee area.

Minor was a two-sport star at Oklahoma and was chosen in both the MLB and NBA drafts in 1996.
Colorado Avalanche television analyst Mark Rycroft reached down for a swig of his beverage during a recent broadcast.
He took one big gulp and quickly realized it was not his cup. Instead, it was the tobacco spit cup of his partner, Avalanche play-by-play broadcaster Marc Moser.
Rycroft scrambled to find his beverage while Moser had to continue broadcasting without breaking out in laughter. Incredibly, Rycroft continued to contribute to the broadcast without a stop in the action.
This week the UCF Knights football team was gearing up for a date with Georgia Tech in the prestigious Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla. Meanwhile, some UCF fans had something else on their mind: killing off a sing-along tradition.
Actually, the “tradition” of the crowd at FBC Mortgage Stadium — AKA the Bounce House — belting out the Frankie Valli tune “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” has only been in place since 2021. That’s so recent, I, a 2018 graduate of the University of Central Florida, was not even aware of it.
If you’re a fan of team gear, it’s good to be a college football player. And even better if you reside in Ann Arbor.
Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson recently shared his gear haul for the upcoming Rose Bowl against Alabama, and it probably blew all expectations out of the water.
The players’ gifts included three bags—featuring two Louis Vuitton-Jordan crossover bags—multiple hats, a few pairs of Jordans, designer shirts and other Michigan-branded gear.

By now, it’s no secret that former Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo and his manager Alex Cora did not get along.
During the 2023 season, Cora benched Verdugo for an unspecified reason.
“Hopefully we learned as a group from what happened yesterday and that’s the reason that we did it,” Cora said according to Fox Sports. “It was my decision not to play him and I have my reasons and we’ll leave it at that.”
Verdugo in the past also had issues with timeliness during his time with the Dodgers, running into disagreements with pitcher Rich Hill.
No one has parlayed moderate on-field success into offield deals like Giants quarterback and patron saint of Northern New Jersey Tommy DeVito.
It’s really something to behold. Every now and again, you just get an athlete who resonates with the fanbase. Comparisons to another breakout New York athlete who had people losing their minds — Jeremy Lin — are more than apt.
Given DeVito’s proud Italian heritage (not sure if you picked up on that or not; he’s Italian), it was only a matter of time before he cut a deal with a pasta sauce company.
That time has come.

Hunt is not a “staff member.” He’s also not allowed to confront an active player on the opposing team.
