Hidetora Hanada is one of the more interesting players in college football, as the Colorado State defensive lineman comes from a sumo wrestling background. A native of Japan, Hanada had the opportunity to rise in the sumo wrestling world after becoming an amateur grand champion, but he instead opted to give football a chance this season.
That risk paid off, as Rams coach Jay Norvell announced the program is giving Hanada a scholarship to play for the football team.
Hanada began playing football in 2022, when he competed in the X-League in Japan.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still whining about the offensive offsides penalty that negated a wild go-ahead touchdown against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Well, at least Kadarius Toney still is.
The wide receiver spoke to reporters for the first time since the incident on Thursday. According to Toney, the referees “lied” about a previous warning — even though replays clearly showed his foot was past the line of the scrimmage.
“Whether it was, an inch, two inches, whatever in front of the ball, the referee got a job to let me know,” Toney said.
“He didn’t make no effort.

Geoff Ogilvy, the 2006 U.S. Open champion, could be the new lead analyst for NBC Sports’ golf telecasts.
NBC Sports is eyeing Geoff Ogilvy, the 2006 U.S. Open champion, to replace Paul Azinger on its telecasts in 2024.
NBC and Azinger could not agree on a contract this past Fall, thus leading to his ouster and opening the door for Ogilvy, according to Sports Business Journal.

Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been in the NFL for a decade and bounced around the league as a quality veteran influence, but his time in the league apparently is coming to an end. The 31-year-old told Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press he will retire at the end of the season.
Bridgewater was a first-round pick by the Vikings in the 2014 NFL draft out of Louisville and later suffered a gruesome leg injury in 2016 that altered the course of his career.

Suns guard Bradley Beal suffered another injury on Friday night, as he left his team’s game against the Knicks with a sprained right ankle in the first quarter and did not return. After the game, Phoenix coach Frank Vogel said Beal’s X-Rays came back negative.
Beal’s injury occurred when his right foot got twisted as he landed on Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo’s left foot after shooting a three-pointer.
