Michigan Wolverines point guard Dug McDaniel has been suspended for six games—but there’s a catch.
McDaniel, the team’s leading scorer, is only suspended for road games. He will still be able to play in games in Ann Arbor.
The suspension is for academic reasons, the school announced.
“We have very high standards within our program, culture and university,” coach Juwan Howard said in a statement. “Serving as mentors, we need to set the standards and pathways for our young men to succeed.

Will this become a trend for the Tide?
It’s too early to say Alabama has to accept a new normal, but they’re certainly feeling the sting of Nick Saban’s retirement already.
Less than 24 hours after the legendary Crimson Tide coach announced his retirement, five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams announced he was removing his commitment from the Tide, directly citing Saban’s exit as a key reason he would consider other options.
“I had no idea, actually,” Williams told ESPN.
In a week that will forever be remembered in sports history, two football titans stepped down from their respective programs: Bill Belichick and Nick Saban.
Another moment that will be remembered? A classic embrace between Belichick and Saban back when they shared the same sideline on the Cleveland Browns‘ staff from 1991 through ’94.
The former New England Patriots coach and former Alabama coach joined forces decades ago in Cleveland. Belichick was head coach while Saban worked under him as defensive coordinator.
With his stock at an all-time high following a season for the ages, entry in the NFL draft seems almost guaranteed for Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.
However, if he is turning professional, his imminent departure from Seattle is not preventing him from getting in one last quip on the way out the door.
It’s rare for Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard to dive too much publicly into the business side of basketball. But after signing a three-year, $153 million extension to remain with the franchise, he spoke to the media and addressed another topic that looms large in the minds of many.

In Leonard’s eyes, the belief is that both players are coming back. He cited that his extension gives the team a chance to sign the duo, which he told reporters.

Jon Rahm has a new name for his LIV Golf team.
As the 13th team within the Saudi-backed circuit, Rahm’s team will be called Legion XIII, or Legion 13 GC, per The Tee Times and LIV Golf Updates.
The name stems from the Legio XIII Gemina, one of Julius Caesar’s most essential units during his civil war in Ancient Rome in the first century BC.
The NFL revealed its home teams for its 2024 international series contests in Europe.
The Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars will all host games in London, while the Carolina Panthers will be the home team for the league’s sole game in Munich, Germany next season.
The Bears and Vikings will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while the Jaguars will once again play at Wembley Stadium as part of their agreement to play in the U.K. on an annual basis.

The Bill Belichick era in New England will officially end at noon on Thursday, but Belichick’s time in the NFL isn’t close to being done. There’s no shortage of needy teams this coaching cycle, and in the wake of the news that the Patriots are moving on there are two teams poised to heavily pursue Belichick: The Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders.
As always, making predictions—especially about the future—is a proceed-at-your-own-risk endeavor. Past performance does not guarantee future success. One of the great appeals of sports: its stubborn unwillingness to abide any obvious logic.

Three of the greatest coaches in football history are saying goodbye to their teams.
News broke yesterday afternoon that Pete Carroll was out as coach of the Seattle Seahawks after 14 seasons. Later that evening, Nick Saban retired from his post leading the Alabama Crimson Tide. And early this morning, the New England Patriots reportedly made the decision to “part ways” with Bill Belichick.
