Nick Dunlap won The American Express, but his amateur status forbade him from earning money. That should change.
Due to his status as an amateur golfer, Nick Dunlap received $0 for his victory at The American Express, the third event of the 2024 PGA Tour season.
And frankly, that should change.

Chubba Purdy is making sure that his older brother, Brock, isn’t the only quarterback from his family who’s in the news this week.
The younger Purdy committed on Monday to play football at Nevada, transferring to the Wolf Pack from Nebraska, where he played for the past two seasons.
Purdy originally had committed to San Jose State out of the transfer portal but flipped to Nevada after coach Brent Brennan left SJSU for Arizona.

The longest-struggling power-conference program in men’s college basketball is starting over yet again in its quest for relevance.
Sandberg made the announcement Monday afternoon.

Jim Harbaugh will likely soon be an NFL coach and not at Michigan to defend the program’s national championship.
And so, it is Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s new day. Look for the Buckeyes to win the 2024-25 national championship. Yes sir. They are stocked on offense and defense.

Harbaugh, meanwhile, is expected to do second interviews with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons this week. Look for him to become the Chargers’ next head coach.
A win on the PGA Tour typically comes with a handful of perks: A massive first-place check, FedEx Cup points, a two-year exemption on Tour, major championship invitations and some well-deserved media attention, to name a few. Twenty-year-old Nick Dunlap’s historic win at the American Express might not have come with cash or points due to his amateur status, but it did come with something else: a life-changing decision.
The Green Bay Packers’ season came to an unfortunate end this weekend with a divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite hanging with the No. 1 seed in the NFC through the entire game, the Packers were unable to throw the final punch they needed to win and ultimately were sent home while San Francisco advanced to the NFC title game.
As the Packers returned to Green Bay to clean out their lockers and head into the offseason, the loss, and the end of the season that came with it, hit some players hard.
The Kyrie Irving that fans have witnessed with the Dallas Mavericks has proven to be the same incredible basketball talent fans know and love, but he’s also shown the ability to change and adapt. Irving has grown dramatically in terms of his approach both on and off the court, something the 31-year-old guard made apparent through his recent comments about teammate Luka Dončić.
Irving has unquestionably been a go-to player for the Mavericks in many key moments during the 2023-24 season.
In January 1979, the Idaho Vandals women’s basketball team set off on a lengthy road trip and ended up in Anchorage. It was the furthest that most of them had ever been from home. The squad was young—there were four freshmen in the starting five—but they’d started off the season strong and felt well positioned for a four-game swing through Alaska.
But their opponents had a question when they walked into the gym.
Which one of you is supposed to be the coach?
On Sunday, VanDerveer earned career win No.

This season could have looked REALLY different in San Francisco.
There’s been a narrative this season that the 49ers were the geniuses who had complete faith in Brock Purdy, but that wasn’t always the case. A story from Nick Wagoner of ESPN notes that San Francisco were on the verge of having very different plans in 2023.
With Purdy coming off an injury and Jimmy Garoppolo bound for Las Vegas, the Niners explored a wild plan at quarterback: Bringing back Tom Brady for one final run.
