It was supposed to be a new era for the Bears, but Sunday looked all too familiar to Chicago fans.
The Packers marched into Soldier Field without Aaron Rodgers, the man who has tortured their franchise for years, with Jordan Love set to start under center. The Bears, with their own franchise quarterback and new-look squad after an offseason spending spree, were intent on ending Green Bay’s dominant ways.
Except they didn’t. Love started his tenure as the face of the Packers franchise with 245 passing yards and three touchdown passes in the lopsided 38–20 affair.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — There’s only one thing worse in the NFL than having a quarterback that isn’t capable of winning your team a championship: It’s having a quarterback that isn’t capable but is getting paid like he is.
Meet Daniel Jones of the New York Giants.
His first game as a newly minted $160 million quarterback for the Giants on Sunday night was — what’s the proper terminology? — oh, yes … Poo.

A group of Alabama fans appeared to shout racist remarks at Texas players during the team’s Saturday loss.
A troubling video surfaced Sunday night of four Texas players on the team’s sideline being harassed and shouted at in disturbing fashion by fans that were presumably cheering for Alabama.
Warning: some might find the language below disturbing.
An unidentified male could be heard in the video shouting, “You’re a f*cking f*ggot. You guys are all f*ggots. Go back back to the projects, f*ggot. Go back to the projects.

The only thing more ridiculous than Victor Wembanyama in real life is his video game character in NBA 2K.
Victor Wembanyama is entering the NBA as the league’s most hyped rookie since LeBron James. The 7’5 French super-prospect can put a lid on the rim defensively, slam home lobs, rip three-pointers, and even create his own jump shot off the dribble. It’s no lie to say the NBA hasn’t seen a big man prospect this much freakish upside this since at least Shaquille O’Neal, but the new NBA2K video game took that idea a little too far.

The New York Giants kicked off their 2023 season with one of their most embarrassing performances in years – a 40-0 loss at home to Dak Prescott and the rival Cowboys.
Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offense were completely dominated all night by a Dallas defense that looked in midseason form. Jones threw two interceptions and was sacked seven times. It was the definition of ugly.
NBC’s Cris Collinsworth took some time late in the game to trash the Giants and their play in the season opener, saying: “Yeah. I mean, this is awful. I don’t know what else to say.

The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their 2023 season in style Sunday night, blowing out the New York Giants on the road, 40-0.
Leading the charge for the Cowboys was their stifling defense, which gave Daniel Jones and the Giants fits until the very final whistle. Dallas picked off two passes, sacked Jones seven times, and forced five fumbles. It was a dominant performance by a group that looked in midseason form.
NBC’s Cris Collinsworth was in awe of what Dallas did on the defensive side of the ball.

Aaron Rodgers is gone, but the Bears still failed like always against the Packers.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have played more times than any two teams in NFL history, but the state of the rivalry over the last 30 years has been one long exercise in pain tolerance for the one playing its home games south of the Illinois-Wisconsin border. The Bears entered the season with just five wins against the Packers in the last 31 games, two wins in the last 19 games, and zero wins in the last eight games.

The Vikings found a way to blow it, and more winners and losers from Week 1.
There was less “Are you ready for some football?!” and more “Is anyone actually ready to play football?” in Week 1 of the NFL of Sunday. With the exception of the 49ers, Dolphins, and Packers nobody really turned up to play at a high level, giving us one heck of a wet fart of a week if you were invested in anything beyond teams winning and losing.
If you’re happy with a Sunday win, enjoy it. Seriously, to the victor go the spoils and you earned the right to a week of preening.
