1. Back in March, Stephen A. Smith was a guest on Dan Le Batard’s show, and the state of hot-take shows was discussed, with the conversation going viral after Le Batard told Smith, “I hate what you two [Skip Bayless and Smith] have done to sports television.”
The two then talked about each other and the argument on their respective shows until they finally met face to face (or Zoom to Zoom) on Smith’s podcast earlier this week.
And they went right at it again on the topic of debate shows.
U.S. Soccer has appointed Marko Mitrović as the next U.S. men’s youth national team under-23 coach, putting him in charge of the men’s soccer team that will compete at the Paris Olympics next summer.
Over the last year, the Serbian-born coach served as the U.S. men’s youth national team U-19 coach, leading the team to a 6-0-0 record, as well as an assistant to interim USMNT coaches Anthony Hudson and B.J. Callaghan during the senior team’s Concacaf Nations League title this summer.
“It’s been an honor working for U.S.
Isi Etute, then a Virginia Tech football player, was lured to Jerry Smith’s apartment under false pretenses. By the time Etute left three minutes later, Smith was dying. The ensuing trial showed just how murky the notion of justice would be.
Attention to detail is a major sticking point for this year’s Steelers, both on the field and in the locker room.
Star defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick played his college football under Nick Saban at Alabama, for whom details are everything. Among them: no stepping on the team logo on the floor in the locker room.
After years of reported discussion on instituting a similar policy in Pittsburgh, Fitzpatrick took it upon himself ahead of the 2023 season.
Legendary former Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Irvin is, unsurprisingly, all in on his old team to win it all in 2023.
Appearing on FS1’s Undisputed on Thursday morning, Irvin picked the Cowboys to win Super Bowl LVIII over the Cincinnati Bengals during the show’s Super Bowl picks segment. If his pick comes true, it’d be the first championship in 27 years for the Cowboys, dating back to the three Super Bowl rings Irvin won in a Cowboys uniform in the 1990s.

People hoping to find some hotel rooms this weekend in Tuscaloosa better be ready to spend a lot of money.
The Crimson Tide welcome the Longhorns Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, and the eyes of the college football world will be upon both teams.
It’s setting up to be an epic game, but attending it definitely won’t be cheap. The average ticket price is $453 with fees on SeatGeek, and hotels are a totally different beast.
Tuscaloosa, while a college town, isn’t overly big. Limited housing is guaranteed to drive costs up, and that’s exactly what’s happening going into Saturday night.

Ahead of the Irish Open, Rory McIlroy provided an interesting perspective into the Saudi’s investment in professional golf.
Rory McIlroy is back home in his native Ireland. He will compete at the Horizon Irish Open this week at The K Club, the site of the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Before the tournament kicked off, however, McIlroy sat down with Nathan Murphy and Joe Molloy of the Golf Weekly podcast to discuss numerous topics, including the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) financial commitment to partnering with the PGA and DP World Tours.

All 12 European Ryder Cuppers will play at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, one of the biggest tournaments on the DP World Tour.
Successful teams often have excellent chemistry, outstanding camaraderie, and a strong will to win that unites.
But those attributes are never formed overnight; they take time to mature and materialize.
You’ve never seen a baseball game end the way the one between the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna and Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos of the Mexican League did on Tuesday night.
It was the sixth game of the best-of-seven Zona Norte Championship Series (the equivalent of MLB’s LCS), with Laguna ahead three games to two. A dramatic bottom of the ninth inning saw former Brewers first-round pick Henry Gatewood hit a home run to cut Laguna’s lead to 3–2. With two outs, Cade Gotta hit a triple to put the tying run on third for Laredo with two outs.
That’s when things got wild.
