Let’s countdown the 25 most important figures in the NFL in 2023.
Football is a team sport, we all know this, it’s not like it’s a mystery — but every year a handful of people help define the sport for the upcoming season. A year ago that was Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, proving the Chiefs still have it, while Mike McDaniel in Miami showed he was more than smoke and mirrors as a head coach.
This year we’ve identified the 25 people who will make 2023 tick, and when the dust settles their performance will decide the season.

The Chicago Cubs entered the final month of the MLB season fighting for their playoff lives, and on Tuesday night they got a big come-from-behind, 11-8, win at home over the San Francisco Giants to help keep their postseason chances moving in the right direction.
The Cubs trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, where they then put up six runs to take a lead that they would not relinquish. The biggest blow of the inning came when designated hitter Christopher Morel crushed a three-run home run to center field that sent Wrigley Field into hysterics.
A Portland State player had a much worse time than the rest of his team during a blowout loss to Oregon.
The Ducks beat the brakes off the Vikings to open the season, and the final score was 81-7 by the time the game ended. It was more of a massacre than a college football matchup.
Well, it was a really bad day for one unnamed player because a guy lost his ear, head coach Bruce Barnum has revealed.

“We had one guy get his ear ripped off. They sewed it back on and now they say he has a concussion.

In one of the least surprising developments one could imagine, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers claims that has seen a UFO. The future Hall of Famer went into detail about his UFO sighting during the season finale of ‘Hard Knocks.’
Rodgers claims that he had his encounter with a UFO back in 2005, just before he was selected 24th overall in the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. The QB was staying at a former teammate’s house in New Jersey when was abruptly woken up in the middle of the night. He walked outside, and there it was, a UFO.
The Arizona Cardinals and their sometimes bizarre quarterback situation is in the news again so let’s address what coach Jonathan Gannon is saying about Kyler Murray, Josh Dobbs and rookie Clayton Tune.
(Never have so many words been used on a team that’s going to struggle so badly).
Anyway, the Cardinals recently selected Murray as a team captain. This might have been a surprise to some people because the Cardinals placed Murray on the physically unable to perform list to start the regular-season, which means he must miss the team’s first four games.
New York Jets coach Robert Saleh doesn’t want to be told his team is playing well if the squad isn’t winning.
Saleh is entering the most important season of his coaching career, and all eyes are on the Jets now that Aaron Rodgers is in town.
Expectations are soaring, but it certainly hasn’t always been that way. The Jets have been down bad for a long time. Certainly much longer than Saleh’s in town, but his 11-23 record has his job on the line going into year three.

Shedeur Sanders needed just one game to prove he’s the star Colorado needed
For all those that didn’t know: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is the real deal.
After throwing for 70 touchdowns over two years as the QB at Jackson State, Sanders followed his father Deion to Colorado. There were many questions about how his game would translate to the Power 5 level after dominating the FCS, and going into a game on the road against TCU those questions would be answered immediately.
Perhaps you’ve heard the adage before: More games are lost than are won. It’s a common refrain in college football to explain how incompetence can lead more to the result of a football game than anything else. Every week there are score lines that are unexpected, and the trickiest thing about it is how small sample sizes can make for flawed takeaways.
