Brittney Griner’s return to WNBA All-Star festivities was a full circle moment for Breanna Stewart and many who desperately missed her as she was detained in Russia.

Mets third baseman Brett Baty made an egregious error during the top of the ninth inning in a one-run game against the Dodgers on Saturday.
With one out and runners on second and third base, Max Muncy hit a shallow pop fly that didn’t even leave the infield. Despite its lack of distance, the fly ball managed to confuse Baty, who struggled to track it over at the hot corner.
Baty ended up losing the ball, diving to the ground as he tried to recover in time to catch it. After the ball hit the ground, it careened back up and smacked the 23-year-old right in the face.

Los Angeles Angles superstar Shohei Ohtani has a habit of blowing people’s minds, and one of those people is Houston Astros skipper Dusty Baker.
Associated Press reported Greg Beacham caught up with Baker and asked him about Ohtani, a player unlike any he has seen in his decades-long career in Major League Baseball.
Houston manager Dusty Baker on Shohei Ohtani: “The greatest strength he has is as a ballplayer, he doesn’t have any weaknesses. I don’t know another guy like him. He must be in tremendous, tremendous shape to pitch and hit everyday.

LeBron James will change his uniform number from No. 6 back to No. 23 for the upcoming season in honor of Bill Russell. The NBA retired No. 6 after Russell’s death last summer.
On the heels of LeBron James confirming his plan to continue playing, the Lakers superstar has reportedly chosen to change his jersey number ahead of his 21st NBA season.
After returning to the No. 6 prior to the 2021–22 season, James will return to the No. 23 for his sixth season in L.A, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. The 38-year-old will don the familiar number for the fourth time in his career, and the first time since the ’20–21 season.
“It’s LeBron’s decision,” Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul told McMenamin.
The Braves’ offense continues to buzz, having been scalding hot throughout the entire summer.
On Saturday, during the third inning of Atlanta’s matchup against the White Sox, Eddie Rosario put the Braves on the board with a solo shot. His 431-foot bomb marked the 28th consecutive game in which the team has hit a home run, adding to their franchise record tally.
Previously, the franchise record stood at 25 consecutive games with a home run, a feat set back in 1998. The 2023 team smashed that record just before the All-Star break, and hasn’t slowed down since.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is the NFL’s Rodney Dangerfield: the dude doesn’t get any respect.
No respect at all, I tell ya…
And unfortunately for him, that includes his teammates. Though to his credit, the Vikings signal-caller has seemingly taken the latest inadvertent diss in stride.
Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was asked to rattle off his top 5 QBs in the NFL, and I think you’ve got some idea of who was left off of that list.
Jefferson said Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Josh Allen in that order.
Yeah, not seeing Mr.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are back at the top of the National League West.
Through the first two months of the season, that seemed like a foregone conclusion. The Dodgers jumped out to a 27-15 start, led by a fearsome offense and typically solid starting pitching.
But as the calendar flipped to June, the Arizona Diamondbacks kicked into high gear, thanks in part to All-Star Corbin Carroll and a young, energetic offense.
Yet with a hot stretch heading into the All-Star break and a dominant win over the New York Mets, the Dodgers took sole possession of first place. Again.
