The Astros may not have won Monday’s clash against the Marlins, but one young supporter of the team walked away from the game with a huge smile on his face.
After Houston’s 5-1 loss in Miami on Monday, star second baseman Jose Altuve could be seen approaching a group of Astros fans, which included a young boy. In a heartwarming postgame moment, Altuve could be seen taking the jersey off his back, signing it, and handing it to the child, who had an incredible response to the 33-year-old’s gesture.

The storyline of the summer—and of the 2020s more broadly—in college sports has been the gradual stripping of the once-proud Pac-12 for parts.
Oregon and Washington are headed to the Big Ten, following USC and UCLA’s stunning defections in the summer of 2022. Arizona, Arizona State and Utah are set to follow Colorado to the Big 12. All will begin play in their new (and in Colorado’s case, old) homes in 2024.
Meanwhile, California, Oregon State, Stanford and Washington State sit in no man’s land.

Air Force will wear uniforms honoring America striking back at Japan after Pearl Harbor, and it’s a legit look.
The Falcons unveiled uniforms Tuesday that honor the legendary Doolittle Raid when American B-25 bombers flew deep into Japan and lit up targets on the ground.
It was a sign to Japan after Pearl Harbor that while America had been hit hard, we were going to get up and hit a hell of a lot harder. It’s an all-time great military story.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Tuesday that he was thrilled for former running back Ezekiel Elliott on signing a reported one-year deal with the Patriots.
Elliott, 28, spent seven seasons in Dallas before the franchise released him during the offseason, electing to rely on Tony Pollard as its featured running back. While McCarthy is not looking forward to coaching against Elliott when the Cowboys and Patriots clash on Oct. 1, he believes his former running back will “do great” in New England’s offensive system.

The Cincinnati Bengals have arguably the best wide receiver group in the NFL with Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd. Certainly, the Miami Dolphins might have something to say about it. So, too, might the Los Angeles Chargers.
The funny thing is that all three teams have a quarterback taken in the first six picks of the 2020 NFL Draft. Though, there’s no debate that Joe Burrow is the best of that group.
It can be tough for NFL teams to manage multiple talented wide receivers. Receivers, by and large, want the quarterback to throw them the ball. And, there’s only one ball.

Justin Verlander was supposed to put the finishing touches on the New York Mets’ 2022-2023 offseason.
The 40-year-old pitcher was coming off an outstanding season with the Houston Astros, with a 1.75 ERA and another World Series win. To pair with Max Scherzer, Steve Cohen and the Mets gave Verlander a 2-year, $86 million deal with a player option for a third season.
Yet just a few months after signing, Verlander was back in Houston, after a disappointing 16 starts in Queens.

Ángel Hernández suffered another loss Tuesday in his racial discrimination lawsuit against Major League Baseball, as a federal court denied reinstatement of his case.
Hernández, the Cuban-born, veteran umpire, initially sued MLB in 2017, claiming the league is biased against minority umpires when deciding upon high-profile positions. At the time, he argued he had not worked in a World Series since ’05 and had been passed over for crew chief several times.
MLB promoted its first Black crew chief, Kerwin Danley, and first Latino crew chief born outside the U.S.

The 76ers announced over the weekend that the franchise had no intention of trading James Harden, instead ending trade talks with other teams involving the former All-Star guard.
On Monday, a video circulated of Harden addressing fans and media in China, where he called team executive Daryl Morey a liar and declared that he’d never play for a franchise that Morey was a part of.
Fast-forward to Tuesday, and star center and reigning league MVP Joel Embiid scrubbed all references of the 76ers from his social media profile on X, the network formerly known as Twitter.
