And the remaining four members are facing one difficult crisis after another.
Stanford and Cal have reportedly made overtures to the ACC Conference, hoping to bolt the dying embers of the once great conference.
Washington State’s been mostly silent, but their neighbors to the south are apparently committed to making the Pac-12 work. Somehow.

The NFL preseason is underway, which means it’s time to shake off the cobwebs and get those mistakes out of the way before the regular season starts. Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis — and the team’s fans — will be happy he got this one out of him early.
Levis and company were in Chicago Saturday afternoon for a date with the Bears.
With time running out and the Titans down 23-17, Levis and Co. had the ball at the Chicago 36-yard line. On 3rd and 3 — after failing to connect with a wide-open receiver on the previous play — Levis aired one into the middle of the field.

Sports fans can definitely chalk a Saturday occurrence at the National Bank Open up under the category of “something you don’t see everyday”—or should we say hear everyday.
During play of the semifinal match in Montreal between Jessica Pegula and Iga Świątek, an American country folk song was suddenly blasted over the speakers.
In the tiebreak of a close second set, the popular song “Cotton Eye Joe” rang out, interrupting play at a pivotal point of the match. Świątek was serving down 4–3 in the tiebreak after losing the first set 6–2, when play was halted.

Three tackles in a preseason game might not seem like a big deal to most. But for Damar Hamlin, it is monumental.
That’s because just over seven months ago on January 2, the Buffalo Bills safety was laid out on the football field, surrounded by medical personnel, suffering a cardiac arrest.

But on Saturday, during the Bills’ preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, he played in his first NFL game since the medical emergency.

Against the current backdrop of rampant conference realignment, the ACC— for the time being—has remained unaffected.
Despite overtures from other conferences, all 15 of its schools remain in place. That’s a far cry from past waves of realignment, which thrust Big East stalwarts Boston College, Louisville, Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Virginia Tech into the league while charter member Maryland left for the Big Ten.
However, stability now does not guarantee stability in the future—ask the Pac-12 circa 10 years ago.

The Cardinals went viral on Saturday, when they posted a video trolling Russell Wilson after Arizona beat the Broncos Friday night. The video, which included parts of a different viral video where a woman on a plane screamed “that guy is not real” at another passenger, showed Wilson stretching on a plane.
Wilson, of course, was criticized for doing high knees on a four hour plane ride last season when the Broncos flew to London. The Cardinals’ video successfully combined multiple viral moments into one, very clever piece of media, garnering close to 5 million views.

Earlier this offseason, Justin Fields set a lofty personal goal of becoming the first Bears quarterback in the history of the storied franchise to throw for 4,000 yards in a single season.
In his preseason debut on Saturday against Tennessee, the talented dual-threat completed all three of his pass attempts for an eye-popping 129 yards and two touchdowns.
However, the gaudy average of 43 yards per completion needs to be put in context.
Fields 62-yard touchdown completion to wideout DJ Moore traveled one yard beyond the line of scrimmage.
