It’s certainly not a secret that Texas will get the very best from each Big 12 opponent this season on its way out of the conference. Can the Longhorns take advantage of the bulletin board material and break the conference title losing streak?
This is the question that is currently on the minds of every fan who wears the burnt orange colors, along with those inside the conference offices. As you’ve noticed over the last few days, coaches, and Brett Yormark, have shared their thoughts on Texas in public settings.
Josh Jacobs is back with the Raiders, new contract, new jersey number and all. Jacobs and the team found middle ground to end his contract dispute, agreeing to an adjusted one-year deal worth up to $12 million with per-game bonuses. He returned to the team roughly two weeks prior to their opener against the Broncos.
Jacobs discussed his return to the team on Wednesday, stating that there are “no hard feelings now” and that it’s a “clean slate,” per ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.
The Cowboys unexpectedly traded for former 49ers No. 3 pick Trey Lance last week. The deal marked the culmination of a failed era for the signal caller in San Francisco, who was long thought to be the team’s future franchise quarterback before injuries derailed those plans.
Lance will be the backup to Dak Prescott in Dallas, and a fresh start to his career should serve him well as he continues to develop. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has been impressed with Lance’s work ethic in his short time with the team, eliciting an obscure movie reference in the process.
BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU’s Maason Smith will perhaps be the best defensive tackle in the 2024 NFL Draft should he come out. But he will not play in college football’s biggest game of the early season Sunday night when No. 5 LSU meets No. 8 Florida State (7:30, ABC) in Orlando.
This is because the NCAA suspended Smith for the game for receiving impermissible benefits (cash) from an autograph signing in 2021. The signing with then-teammate Kayshon Boutte happened just weeks before Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) legislation passed in July and August of that year.
The red-hot Astros completed a two-game sweep of the Red Sox in style Wednesday night in Boston, with closer Ryan Pressly throwing the coolest curveball of the MLB season to strike out Connor Wong and give Houston its fifth straight win.
The Astros are tied for first with the Mariners in the AL West, with the Rangers a game back after Aroldis Chapman blew a save in ugly fashion against the Mets.
Two months ago, Coco Gauff found herself at a new low, having lost at Wimbledon in the very first round. Now at the U.S. Open, she’s less than two weeks removed from defeating No. 1 Iga Świątek in the final the 2023 Cincinnati Masters and has all the momentum in the world going into the U.S. Open.
The 19-year-old prodigy isn’t an underdog by any means, but she credits one athlete from a different sport for inspiring her in recent years: Heat forward Jimmy Butler.
“That switch I had in the last couple weeks.
Wisconsin Badgers football coach Luke Fickell wants to see butts in seats in the student section this Saturday.
One of the biggest issues that has always plagued Wisconsin’s football program is the fact large chunks of the student section sit empty until mid-second quarter or even halftime.
Some people only show up to do “Jump Around” between the third and fourth quarters. It’s a terrible look, and it’s beyond embarrassing that students don’t show up on time unless it’s a huge game.
Everything you need to know about the day in sports.
Georgia (+240), vying for a third consecutive national championship, enters the season with some of the shortest title odds in over two decades. The Bulldogs are followed by Alabama (+550), Ohio State (+800) and Michigan (+850).
