Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers is in hot water for allegedly placing bets on Iowa State sporting events.
Dekkers’ alleged 26 wagers (totaling more than $2,799) are part of a betting probe looking at illegal gambling activity at Iowa (Hawkeyes) and ISU. Dekkers will appear in court on Aug. 26.

The 22-year-old junior started 12 games for the Cyclones last season. Dekkers faces accusations of betting on 26 events — including one Iowa State football game in 2021, which he did not play.

Bryce Young may have been the big man on campus in his time at Alabama. But that didn’t mean he didn’t spend some of his free time earning a little extra cash.
While speaking with media on Tuesday, Young, the Panthers’ No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft, said that prior to the arrival of rules allowing for players to profit off their name, image and likeness, he held down a job as a food delivery driver in order to make extra money.
In fact, he would often attempt to hide his identity while delivering food for DoorDash.
“I would have a mask on and wear a hoodie,” said Young.

Full disclosure: I am a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan. I woke up on Tuesday in anticipation that the team — surprisingly in first place in the NL Central — would make moves to improve the roster at the MLB Trade Deadline.
The Reds have an exciting offense headlined by a bunch of young, hungry kids. Plus, they have a future Hall of Fame first baseman in Joey Votto. They don’t have a problem scoring runs.
They do, however, have issues stopping other teams from. scoring runs.

Braves ace Spencer Strider made MLB history on Tuesday, shattering the record he set himself just last year after recording his 200th strikeout of the season.
Strider entered Tuesday’s game needing just one strikeout for the two-century mark on the season, and he achieved that in the top of the first inning, sitting down Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani for the milestone strikeout.
Last year, Strider became the fastest pitcher in league history to record 200 strikeouts in a single season, doing so in just 130 innings on the mound.
