The NHL is set to ban themed pregame warm-up jerseys next season, the result of a year of controversy after seven players refused to wear Pride-themed warm-up jerseys in support of the LGBTQ community.
Oilers center Connor McDavid, however, spoke out against the ban Monday night as he received the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP in Nashville.
“It’s disappointing to see,” McDavid said. “It’s not my call, but obviously it’s disappointing. … I certainly can’t speak for every organization.

NFL free agent Leonard Fournette had a terrifying moment on the highway on Tuesday when his car suddenly burst into flames.
The former LSU running back was driving his Dodge Durango Hellcat SRT in Tampa Bay on Interstate 275 when flames began shooting from the vehicle’s hood.
Fournette shared a video from the scene, thanking God that he didn’t suffer injuries from what could have been a near-death moment.

JJ Watt says he has no plans to return to the NFL.
He said he’s not training to play in the NFL. Instead, he’s doing vanity workouts to keep looking good at the beach.

Chris Long seemed convinced that Watt was leaving the door open for a return.

Detroit Golf Club got rocked by a severe thunderstorm Sunday night, just days ahead of the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The Donald Ross course lost numerous trees, as dozens of limbs and other debris fell over the property.
DeAndre Hopkins has yet to latch on with a new team following his release from the Cardinals earlier this offseason. The star wide receiver has been linked to a handful of destinations, including the Patriots and Titans, though no deal has materialized yet.
During an episode of ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill & Max, NFL reporter Sal Paolantonio indicated that there are two other teams “lurking” in the mix for Hopkins.
