Reports broke late Saturday that the head coach of the Wildcats was at the top of the list to take over at Texas A&M after Jimbo Fisher was fired. He was one of many big names tied to the job, but the reception was very icy. Some appeared on the brink of revolt as a deal appeared to be likely at any time.

Auburn fans melted down Saturday night after losing to Alabama in truly shocking fashion.
The Crimson Tide pulled off one of the most stunning plays in recent college football memory when Jalen Milroe slung a touchdown pass on 4th and goal from the 31-yard line.
It looked like Auburn fans were going to spend the night celebrating with plenty of cold beers. Instead, Nick Saban pulled off another miracle win that had to be seen to be believed.

The Buckeyes and Day lost three straight to Michigan Saturday after falling 30-24 in Ann Arbor. It didn’t even matter that Jim Harbaugh wasn’t coaching.

Rivalry week is always special in college football. Few deliver like this one did, and the chaos arrived not a moment too soon. Next year the spite will still be there for many games, but the last Saturday of the regular season will look slightly different. Oregon and Washington will play each other, and the Apple Cup will move to the beginning of the season. It’s unclear if Oregon and Oregon State will continue to play. The Bulldogs are chasing their third consecutive national championship, something that by most measurements hasn’t been accomplished since Minnesota’s 1930s dynasty. However, Georgia has quietly moved amassed one of college football’s longest winning streaks.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs topped Georgia Tech, 31–23, to win their 29th consecutive game. The win gave them sole possession of the longest winning streak in SEC history.

For years, a strict set of rules has governed the way FCS football programs transition to FBS. They have decent intentions behind them—they’re meant, in theory, to prevent teams from making the leap too quickly and facing a debilitating financial crunch.
However, those rules have come under more scrutiny this year than any year before it. That’s largely due to the feats of James Madison, which roared to an 11–1 record in just its second year as an FBS program.
NCAA rules prevent teams transitioning from FCS to FBS from participating in bowl games for the first two years.
