The AFC championship game can’t get here soon enough.
Shortly after the Bengals iced a 27-10 divisional-round win over the Bills on Sunday, Patrick Mahomes rushed to Twitter to let the world know he’s already counting down the days to next week’s rematch of the 2022 conference title game.
Mahomes, who is currently nursing a high-ankle sprain, shared a tweet that included only a clock emoji, a simple yet not-so-subtle sign that the star quarterback is eagerly awaiting the Chiefs’s matchup against the Bengals on Jan. 29.

The Cowboys’ first score of the game came in the second quarter, but it was followed by another missed PAT by Brett Maher.
After missing four point-after attempts last week against Tampa Bay, Dallas kicker Brett Maher’s troubles continued Sunday against San Francisco, when his first extra-point try of the day was blocked by the 49ers in the second quarter.

The kicking woes continue for the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas advanced to the Divisional Round with a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it was not a perfect performance. Kicker Brett Maher missed four extra points in the win, and that called into question how the Cowboys would handle the kicking position against the San Francisco 49ers.
Former Arkansas and NFL running back Peyton Hillis is home with his family.
Hillis had been hospitalized since Jan. 4 after saving his two children from drowning at a Florida beach. The incident damaged his lung and kidney, and he was in critical condition.
His girlfriend, Angela Cole, posted an update on Instagram on Friday with a photograph of the medical staff.
“God is so good!” she wrote. “The amount of love and gratitude I have for the incredible team that took care of Peyton is indescribable.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho scored a pair of goals at the expense of New York Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The Metropolitan division-leading Hurricanes were on Long Island for a date with the Islanders. Late in the second period with the score knotted at two, Hurricanes winger Teuvo Teräväinen hurried up the boards, and fed a puck into the slot while Sebastian Aho — the Finnish-born Hurricanes one — crashed the net.
Buffalo had Joe Burrow and Cincinnati right where it wanted them. Then the reigning AFC champs and their confident quarterback flipped the script entirely.
NHL Network analyst EJ Hradek — like so many on the left — sure doesn’t seem to like the idea of being held accountable for their double standards.
The analyst has yet to offer a mea culpa for his comments on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov’s decision not to wear one of the team’s Pride Night jerseys for warm-ups.
That choice — which Provorov said was made to stay true to himself and his Orthodox Russian religion — led to Hradek saying he could “get on a plane” and suggested he “get involved” in the conflict in Ukraine.

The Bengals’ win means the conference title game will be in Kansas City, and not Atlanta.
Officially, the NFL is not playing favorites. However, the chance of hosting a conference championship game at a neutral location must have been attractive to the league office.
Alas, it was not meant to be. The Buffalo Bills losing 27-10 to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday eliminated the option of the AFC Championship Game being played in Atlanta.
