Former Australian rules football player Heather Anderson was diagnosed with traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), making her the first known professional female athlete to be diagnosed with the brain disease, researchers said in a paper published Tuesday. 
Anderson died by suicide in November. She was 28. Her family donated her brain to the Australian Sports Brain Bank (ASBB) where researchers discovered lesions consistent with low-stage CTE.

One of ESPN’s most accomplished college football reporters is bidding the network farewell.
Longtime sportswriter Gene Wojciechowski has exited ESPN, he announced in a tweet Monday afternoon. The move comes amid a round of layoffs that impacted ESPN’s personnel in front of and behind the camera.
“June 30 was my last day at ESPN,” Wojciechowski wrote. “I’m indebted to every editor, producer, director, crew member, researcher, and colleague during that 25 1/2-year run. Grateful to all those who let us parachute into their lives and trust us with their stories.

Previewing the British Grand Prix, Wolff predicts an immediate bounceback for Mercedes
It was not the best of weekends for Mercedes in the Styrian Hills.

As is often the case during big-time football games at State Farm Stadium, a slippery field took center stage during Super Bowl LVII between the Chiefs and Eagles.
