The NBA career of Harry Giles thus far may have been shorter than most expected, but the former first-round pick in the 2017 NBA draft appears to be more than ready for a comeback opportunity.
It was first revealed Giles would hold a private workout for NBA teams in Las Vegas on Monday during the 2023 NBA Summer League by Turner Sports’ Chris Haynes. Following the workout, there hasn’t been a ton of chatter yet surrounding potential interest, but on Tuesday, Haynes released the footage of Giles’s workout, and it was impressive, to say the least.

Making the right choice can be the difference between winning and losing, both in the National Football League and in the world of fantasy football. Case in point. In the 2010 NFL draft, the Bengals had the No. 21 overall pick. Needing a tight end, they selected Jermaine Gresham out of Oklahoma. They picked him ahead of another tight end out of Arizona who fell to Round 2 … Rob Gronkowski.
Gresham had a decent career in the NFL, but it wasn’t even close to what the man we call Gronk accomplished. He’ll be heading to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Bengals chose poorly.

Regardless of where someone’s fandom lies, at least one thing Damian Lillard and his agent deserve credit for is being brutally honest about the star’s interest in his next potential home. While trade chatter continues to swirl around the Trail Blazers star, everything continues to point back to the Heat as not only the primary focus, but it appears to be Lillard’s only team of interest at this point.
That point was driven home this week by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who reported on the latest surrounding Lillard during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

There’s nothing Pete Alonso loves more than hitting dingers.
“It’s the most addicting feeling,” Alonso said before last year’s Home Run Derby. “I mean, I can’t get enough of it. I don’t know if there’s anyone that loves hitting homers more than I do.”
The two-time Derby champion fell short in his pursuit of a three-peat last year, but this year’s event represented another opportunity to win his third career Derby and tie Ken Griffey Jr.’s record.

Bless you, Maglio. You’ve let us tell a happy Detroit story for once.
It’s October 14th, 2006. We’re at Comerica Park in Detroit for game four of the ALCS between the hometown Tigers and the Oakland A’s. Detroit, leading the series three games to none, is eager to celebrate. But right now, those plans are on hold – it’s tied in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. Sure, Maglio Ordonez is up at bat, but just being realistic here – we’re probably getting some free, playoff baseball via extra innings tonight.

In 2005, Gary Barnett was forced out as football coach at Colorado. His otherwise stellar career had been weighed down by allegations of recruiting improprieties, followed by insensitive comments about former kicker Katie Hnida, who said she was raped by a teammate. Barnett was temporarily suspended in ’04, then pushed out in ’05 after a 70–3 loss to eventual national champion Texas in the Big 12 championship game.

Coaches involved in scandals don’t need your defense.
We’re only just seeing the tip of the Northwestern iceberg in the wake of Pat Fitzgerald’s firing. It will be months before we get a full picture of the alleged hazing, racism and assault inside the football program — that’s if it ever truly comes to light at all, with the school choosing to keep everything behind closed doors.
There is a time to speak and a time to listen.

Reading is hard. Ask Rob Manfred who spectacularly flubbed a first-round draft pick’s alma mater over the weekend.
Manfred — who still hasn’t apologized for pulling the All-Star Game out of Atlanta, in case you were wondering — was at the podium to announce the Oakland Athletics’ first-round pick.
They went with shortstop Jacob Wilson, but it was where Manford said he played college ball that left people scratching their heads and wondering if Manfred had ever heard of one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
