Rickie Fowler did not have the final round that he wanted to at the 123rd U.S. Open, but with it being Father’s Day, his daughter helped ease the pain.
Rickie Fowler did not have the final U.S. Open round he wanted. He shot a 75 Sunday to finish T5, five shots behind champ Wyndham Clark. However, seeing his daughter, Mya, helped ease the pain of another major championship letdown.
“Being able to see my daughter before scoring, it kind of takes a lot of that away because in the kind of big picture, big scheme of things,” Fowler said.

Rory McIlroy finished second at another major championship, falling just short of Wyndham Clark at the 2023 U.S. Open.
Rory McIlroy fell short once again in a major championship. He finished solo second at the 123rd U.S. Open, one shot back of champion Wyndham Clark.
McIlroy struggled to make putts fall on Sunday, making 16 pars on the day. Of those 16 pars, eight of them were 22 inches or shorter. This round mimicked last year’s Open Championship round, where he couldn’t buy a birdie putt.

Wyndham Clark co-led the U.S. Open heading into Sunday’s final round, but you wouldn’t have known it if you tuned into pre-round coverage ahead of the final 18 holes at Los Angeles Country Club. Tied with Rickie Fowler and with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler chasing, it’s understandable for some to overlook Clark’s name.
That’s nothing new for Clark. Hell, it probably played to his advantage that nobody was giving him a chance on Sunday.

Rory McIlroy came oh so close to winning the U.S. Open and his fifth major championship. But it was not to be, mostly because of the putter.
Once again, Rory McIlroy suffered a major heartbreak.
He hit the ball beautifully all week at the Los Angeles Country Club, leading the field in strokes gained off the tee and in greens in regulation at the 123rd U.S. Open.
