Northwestern football coach Pat Fitzgerald has been suspended following an investigation into hazing allegations.
The Northwestern Wildcats launched an investigation in early 2023 into allegations of hazing within Fitzgerald’s program, and the findings have led to a two-week suspension for the program’s head coach.
The suspension is unpaid and starts immediately. That means he won’t miss a single second once the season starts. The team will also no longer be allowed to do off-campus training in Wisconsin.

The Astros lost to the Mariners 5–1 on Thursday night and one moment from late in the game had Major League Baseball fans rightfully upset at one of Houston’s players after he got away with a dirty play that could have led to an injury. 
Astros center fielder Chas McCormick tried to beat out a ground ball in the bottom of the ninth inning but when he realized he wouldn’t be able to, he took a swipe at Ty France’s left arm in a move that was both illegal and dangerous.

Northwestern has suspended football coach Pat Fitzgerald for two weeks without pay after an investigation into the program’s hazing allegations, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reports. Besides the suspension, Northwestern has also canceled off-campus practices in Kenosha, Wis. and are sending someone who is not part of Fitzgerald’s staff to monitor the locker room.
In January, after the 2022 season, Rittenberg first reported that Northwestern was opening an investigation into hazing allegations.

Before he prepares to seek his third home run derby title next week, Mets slugger Pete Alonso had an impressive power display in Thursday’s win over the Diamondbacks. 
A stint on the injured list in mid-June caused Alonso to fall a few steps behind Atlanta’s Matt Olson in the National League home run race, but he hit one of the most remarkable homers of the season in the first inning of Thursday’s game in Arizona. He took a fastball from Ryne Nelson and ripped it into the left field corner, just high enough to get over the fence.
